The BBC program Watchdog aired a segment about numerous bugs in FIFA 13 that included crashes, invisible players, balls, the loss of paid content for FIFA Ultimate Team, and that Electronic Arts was ignoring user complaints.
You know what's funny? I've always heard about all these bugs FIFA's supposedly had since I first started playing FIFA (08), but I've personally hardly seen any of them. The only bug I can remenber seeing was a negative transfer fee error in FIFA (10 I think it was?). Based on my own experiences, FIFA might as well be one of the most bug-free games ever. I know for certain that it has bugs, but I just never usually see them. They don't seem to happen to me. Maybe I just don't play it enough to see them?
... I'm more upset about the AI cheating on higher difficulty-levels, cause the games are 'scripted'. Also, there are too many screens you have to wait for and click through. The replays can only be saved as crappy and short video-files. And there's no proper player-editor to change existing players to make them more realistic, both in terms of appearance as well as performance. And those are things that have been an issue for me for a few years now, and they still haven't fixed those issues.
The Truth is the game is riddle with bugs, and I've been playing Fifa Games since 1999 just to give you a bit of perspective here. Fifa 13 would be in pieces by now if I didn't download it on my PS3. The AI is cheap, you know the AI is going to score when no matter how many tackles you make, somehow the opposite team still ends up with ball, and you goalie becomes a 2 year old and can't stoop the simplest and weakest of shots. Whenever I put Fifa on, my wife leaves the room as it becomes a very unsafe environment. Your players start to randomly do lob passes and first time volleys without you pressing any buttons... I mean I could go on and on. but I'm glad people are calling them out on it. I would love to have one of the guys from EA over one night when I'm playing FIFA 13, I think he would need the best surgeon in the world to remove my controller from his rectum. Rage rant, over.....
Or your just very unobservant?.
It's a real shame that nearly every game review generally ignores all the bugs. I like how EA waffles on about their commitment to quality/patches but the reality is quite different - took over 6 months to fix major bugs like no VOIP on the PS3 version of BF3 for instance. Now there seems to be much the same problem with PS3 MOH Warfighter!!
Keep up the good work, Watchdog :)
Hilarious.. you know when the article starts off by gloating about player numbers, it's going to be bad. Just a load of corporate hogwash to be fair. The best part, EA will happily respond to watchdog however they won't even give their own paying playerbase the same treatment. Stay classy EA, stay classy. Now just have to wait for the next worst company in America voting to come around.
Really is a slow buggy game, small things but annoying nonetheless. Like the delay when you return to the main menu, the saving of everything even when you dont change anything, whatever happened to saving in the background. The long delays for substututions, sometimes its fine then you have times where you're either staring at a player walking or the 4th official holding up the numbers for what seems like ages when you're having a great game with a friend or tense game in career mode. But what still drives me mad is the scripted crap, i actually know now when the "momentum" changes and the other team is going to score, although its not guaranteed they will but its very hard to stop them i.e. unable to control the right player, defenders not reacting, opponents knowing every action you plan to make etc... This is what turns me off the game.
This is so old.
