Are Violent Video Games Really That Bad?

Normally I jump straight into violent videogames, killing everything in sight – especially the chickens – and destroying ALL the explosive red barrels. However, over the last month I decided to stop the virtual killing and do some thinking instead. I came up with a simple but thought provoking question regarding gamers: Why might they enjoy violent video games? (Culture, Industry, Tag Invalid)

This debate has been going on ever since Senator Joseph Lieberman started his crusade against violent video games. A disturbed individual can be manipulated by a violent movie or video game, but that doesn't make either 'bad'. Some people will take what they see (or play) seriously no matter what it is. And if that person happens to be a young child without parental supervision, it's not the industry's fault if that person reenacts a violent scene from a game or movie.
