TGC writes: “GOOOOD MORNING VIETNAM!” Vietcong’s tagline sounds far more appropriate for a horror game than anything else. However a little further reading describes experiencing the fear and danger of the lethal jungle warfare in 1967 Vietnam. Said tagline suddenly makes more sense and while this game nor any game can replicate such an experience and hopefully never will. Vietcong saw me with my face plastered into the virtual mud because if I raised it an inch higher I’d be restarting the mission very quickly.
It’s been a while, since Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, that pure stealth multiplayer left any lasting impact on online gaming. While it may be incorporated in aspects rawDLC and Sneaky Bastards’ Dan Hindes lament its loss and ponder where it could resurface in the future.
"The insects buzz everywhere around you. The strange croaking of some reptile echoes in the green hell. You clutch your gun, and, squinting, you spy through the dense jungle. Somewhere out there Charlie’s staring back. Chances are you won’t notice him until you’re two feet away from each other. Luck decides who walks away, and who gets to end his miserable existence with a bayonet in his gullet. You curse this place, and whatever officer put you on this mission. What’s the point anyway? What use are we in this hellhole? You hear the distant sound of footsteps. The cracking of branches. The sloshing sound of boots wading through a bog. Now’s your chance. Stay quiet, and keep a straight shot."
Nightmare Mode has taken a look at the two previous Vietcong titles, and makes a case for why a third game is desirable.
The theme of war has always been a part of gaming. These games revolved around the times of WWI, WWII, Vietnam War, Desert Storm and so forth. And some of these war themes have been overwhelmingly recycled over to the point where gamers just get tired of it. But despite this, there have been some fantastic games that were developed and based on these themes. So here's the list of the best warfare games.
MOH ?! 2nd place !?
What a farce - the MOH games (bar the first 2, on PS1) were rubbish. The 2 first levels of Frontline were decent, and the first level of Rising Sun was alright, but every single level or other MOH games sucked harder than a vaccum cleaner.
