The Binks starring Eddie Murphy, playing Every role.
shadow2797  +   876d ago
Hate to break it to you, but they're all kids movies and always have been. The possible exception being Revenge of the Sith, but I can't imagine you want that to be the model for 7-9 over 4-6.
darren_poolies  +   875d ago
You do know that the rights were bought by Disney right? Plus they're kids movies anyway.
BlueEye  +   875d ago
Yeah the Avengers sure were child friendly! Only a few mass murders, giant scary monster or two, blood, drinking and a whole lot of awesome.

Nah there's not gonna be a war, it's about friendship and rainbows and sunshine and unicorn farts.
RustedMan  +   875d ago
unicorn farts.
I would pay to see that movie.
Reverent  +   875d ago
Honestly. While I'm not a huge fan of Disney, They've handled Marvel perfectly fine, and odds are, Lucasarts will be no different. I think this is just another instance where people just wanna hate on things for unfair reasons. I can't tell you how many people like to say, "Oh, the Avengers sucked so bad!" Just because they think it will make them look cool to hate on it.
Flavor  +   875d ago
News flash, Star Wars is a fantasy about spaceships and magic. Go read American Psycho if you want entertainment for adults.
Reverent  +   875d ago
Well... The magic was gone when George thought explaining the Force as a microscopic bacteria called midichlorians was a good idea. Yeah, it wasn't. :/

I am soooo happy right now. Disney did a good job with Marvel i think they will do Star Wars good!!!! BTW the newer movies are not the worst thing except for jar jar but there has to be something there for fan to hate on(remember c3po anybody?). Fans are way too picky but then go see the movies on opening day and complain about it for the rest of their lives.
HowarthsNJ  +   876d ago
Disney didn't have much to do with Marvel's current success. It was planned long ago before the sale.
Smokey  +   876d ago
yeah good point but they are not planing to dismantle or plan on telling Marvel how to run their comic/movie department, is the point i meant to get across. Like or hate them Disney is a well run company for the most part.
Baka-akaB  +   876d ago
They still could have interfered wich they havent yet . And so far they've mostly helped the comics division's revamp of their lines or keeping things more cohesive with their movies .

Only thing Marvel fans complain about right now , when it comes to disney , is their decision to axe their recent spider-man for a good but lackluster Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon , and to axe Avengers : Earth Mightiest Heroes , for a yet unreleased Avengers Assemble cartoon , supposed to be closer to the movie .

Yet even that would most likely have happened with Marvel left on their own . HArdly the first time they cancel critically praised cartoon series to try new things and gain more viewers

Here's to hoping that the new films are more like the original Star Wars Trilogy films.

I think the perfect way to begin the new films is with Timothy Zahn's Star Wars novels "The Thrawn Trilogy". The Thrawn trilogy constantly ranks in the top 100 science fiction novels of all time lists.

Come on, new Grim Fandango!
Or a Grim Fandango Pixar movie. Or Tim Burton movie. :) Anyone remember the underworld bar scene from Corpse Bride? It instantly made me think how cool would a Grim Fandango movie be? And with Burton's relationship with Disney, while the chances of this are pretty damn remote now that Disney owns the Grim Fandango rights (I saw Tim Schafer tweeting about this today and the possibility of new Grim) - we can dream, can't we?

Disney should start a new trilogy, using CGI-only tech, and looking like the SW:TOR and SW:TFU2 CG trailers.
GTRrocker666  +   876d ago
They need to go back to animatronics and make up effects. Cgi blows and looks corny. They should only use cgi for the setting and ships
Dms2012  +   876d ago
I agree, can't for the life of me understand why someone would disagree. CGI has its place, but not for every damned frame of a live action movie.
shackdaddy  +   876d ago
Yup. Agree completely. The sequels have a magic that the prequels didn't and I think that's partly from the hundreds of real-life models and puppets put into the movie. It gave it a certain feeling of life that computer generated effects can't replicate.

The best looking movies imo have a good mix of both worlds...

edonus  +   876d ago
No, cgi was developed for a reason. You arent going to get the Obi wan Anakin lava fight with out it.

With that said I do think they could pull back some of the cgi. They need to develop a good mixture. I loved the look of the Prequals but that was good for those stories. I think in a more orgamic story that focuses on characters more than overall situation they need more real interactive things.
GTRrocker666  +   876d ago
Just look at the show farscape. They had a perfect blend of cgi, make up, and animatronics. If you have never seen this show you need to buy all the dvds. The jim hensen co. Did an amazing job on that series. I still cannot believe it wasnt more popular with scifi fans.

Also the tv series dinosaurs. All of those puppets still seem so real. If you have netflix streaming you need to watch these two shows to see what i am talking about. Thank me after.

Farscape is one of my favourites due to the great animatronics, fantastic sets, and brilliant make-up.

Oh, and Claudia Black.

CGI has taken too much of a stranglehold. I don't mind it in moderation, but it's so overused in places. Fine for fantastical environments or space battles. Not so much for creatures/aliens etc, it feels lifeless and unconvincing, especially when you have an actual person nearby as reference. Just look at I Am Legend.

Nothing Pixar has done is close to the CG we see in films like Avatar or the Star Wars prequels. They animate accordingly to an art style, not real life. It's not their forte to work with CG visual effects. They will never work with live action. They're an animation company. Besides being a former subsidiary to LucasFilm, they've had no connection to Star Wars, and most definitely never will.

Disney now owns all of LucasFilm subsidiaries, so you'll be seeing all the work towards Star Wars still being done by them. The only difference will be direction.

Industrial Light & Magic (Visual Effects), Lucasfilm Animation, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts, will continue to work on Star Wars projects.

Star Wars have always....ALWAYS been for the younger generation with the one exception of the best Star Wars movie in Empire Strikes Back. Remember the Ewoks?

If you really want some adult Star Wars stories...read the books/graphic novels. The Death of Chewbacca or the Death of Boba Fett are good ones. BTW in the comics Boba Fett survived that Sarlac Pitt. One of my favorites is the Last Royal Crimson Guard who is a serious bad ass.

All I ask is they please dont go into that Palpatine clone resurrection crap. And I dont really like the extended story of Han Solo and Leias kids and Lukes kids. Those stories are a little too all over the place. They need a new more focused story or another large universe tale.

Well the press release i read stated that they bought lucasfilms for 4.05 billion. lucasArts is the gaming company which is a separate division. I'm just pissed i didn't buy disney stock when i had the chance and if anyone in here has george's daughter's number i would really appreciate it if you send it my way...call her i will...i got a "lightsaber" she might be interested in. :p

The first three were epic. The second three were good. People got disappointed they weren't epic, and let's face it, The Phantom Menace, while being better than you probably remember, was pretty crappy. Attack of the clones and Revenge of the Sith were good, but nowhere near as good as the original.

It's also that so much time had gone, the sheer shock value of what Star Wars used to be, wasn't there. Star Wars was 15 years ahead of anybody else. By the time Phantom Menace came along, the gap had disappeared. True there were some advances, but those were gone within a year in the video game world. They thought they were so ahead, when really it was just barely.

That said, I'm all for new Star Wars movies. The books that came out afterwards had Leia and Han's kids being Jedi's, so there's lots to work with there. Hell you might even be able to pry back the original cast to play the elders. I know long shot, but since when do you see Hamill, Fisher, Billy D doing anything? Even Harrison Ford doesn't do alot these days, and if he was willing to make Indiana Jones 4, and supposedly 5 and maybe 6, then why not Star Wars?

Real sets, with animatronics, and CGI. Melding all three is what it takes to make it work. Don't be stupid in how CGI is placed, do it naturally, or for important aspects that simply can't be done with animatronics.

I feel if anyone was going to buy Lucasfilm, then Disney/Pixar is the right choice. They focus on quality like George Lucas liked to do. It adds competency to competency. It aids Lucas in doing 7,8, and 9. It gains him the knowledge, the expertise, and the workshop of Pixar and their CGI.

We'll never know until they come out, but if Star Wars has a future in the theaters, Disney and Pixar are the ones to help them achieve that future.

Star Wars 1313 looks to be a game that will show Disney that the franchise is capable to base great games off of, you just need people that can make games AND wrap it around the Stars Wars universe and motifs. Too often they recreated the universe and motifs well, it's just there wasn't a very fun game behind it. 1313 looks to be a return to the good ol days of the original Star Wars in the arcade, or the SNES trilogy of games, or X-Wing/Tie Fighter on the PC, Jedi Knight, or Battlefront.

Indiana Jones games and movies might be helped out too. Remember at least #5 is in the planning stages, and I could have sworn I read somewhere they were planning to do film two in one longer shoot. Either way, when you add Lucasfilm, Disney, and Pixar all together, somehow I think the end result shouldn't suck, and might be exactly what we wanted. Hey even if it's simply good, I can deal with that.

I don't like the idea of not having many more LucasArts games. 4 out of 5 are worth a look, even as a non-Star Wars fan...

pretty much anything not racing...

I am so happy about this, more star wars is awesome in my book. Disney knows what they are doing, they know the fans behind star wars are very loyal and really want more. I love all the star wars movies, even the prequels, people like me will love this news.

Though I'm sure the people who only care for the originals will most likely bitch and complain. Look at the quality they put into the pirate movies, I envision them doing the same for star wars

Holy hell, Disney's gone Pac-Man. Marvel, Pixar and now LucasFilms?

What is Star Wars without Luke, Ani and Obi though. I'd advise them to take the prequel route again, that way we'd at least see Yoda etc. in the movies once more. If it'll be its own trilogy I'm afraid I may not be as emotionally invested in as I used to.
optimus  +   876d ago
They already said it will continue with episode 7 in 2015, followed by episodes 8 and 9 about every 3 yrs after that...they can write a new storyline or use the story from the books which has han and leia's kids who are also strong with the force.
Sithlord-Gamble  +   875d ago
This is the best news ive heard in a long time.

I hope they base the movies on the New Jedi Order storyline.

For you star wars fans, i suggest reading the novels. The storyline contains ALOT more than the movies will ever get to.
Picnic  +   875d ago
The wide scale of appeal of Star Wars interests me. Puzzles me would be more accurate. It has been described as a 'Western in space'. But few have probably even heard of that metaphor for the series. So what exactly do they see in it more than they see in other blockbuster films? The answer almost certainly doesn't lie in how it appeals to children. The Phantom Menace did that and was slated by many 'fans'. I think that the reason that people like Star Wars is the politics of it. There are emperors and armies and wars. But it seems such a dull reason. There've been sci-films like Alien and Bladerunner that have held my interest much more and there have have been fantasy films (many in the 1980s) that have too. I can't help feeling that Star Wars mainly appeals to the kind of people who like playing role playing games or playing with toy soldiers. That might be many people but it's not my cup of tea. It's the B-Movie that got lucky at the right time. Post Jaws, thirsty for blockbusters and in a depressed 70s economic environment, a lot of people were looking to get away from bad old earth for a tale of good versus evil.
Star Wars owes its initial popularity to recession.

seeing star wars in kingdom hearts would be pretty cool, but i think maybe Tatoweine/ Mos Eisley (spelt wrong) or the death star might also be likely choices. then again Mickey Mouse is kinda of like yoda, but yes darkness for lord vader maybe heartless stormtrooper thingies that can actually hit you.
