$12.99 for 12 Dead or Alive 5 costumes is this worth it?
$12.99 for 12 costumes seems a bit steep, is it the age old argument once again, or are fighting game fans being royally fleeced.
(Dead or Alive 5, PS3, Xbox 360)
You could get games you have missed out on playing for this price or get an amazing Indie title. There are very few pieces of DLC that are worth getting and this looks like the complete opposite of how I think DLC should be handled.
Agreed. I can't even count the amount of amazing indie games I have been able to pick up on Steam for less then $12.99 so when you look at it that way it really does look like a massive waste or money.
agreed. i just picked up divinity 2 for 12 bones and while it def lacks some polish, its a pretty damn good game. well worth the 12 bones and a far better value than costumes lol.
but to be fair if your a huge fan of any particular title then tech its worth it. i traded my DOA5 in though, the story mode was rubbish and it just didnt feel much better than the others lol
As a big fan of the series and one that was hoping for there to be DLC costumes I have to say I don't think they are worth it for the price. I think they should have been half that price or maybe even a little less. It can't be that hard for Team Ninja to make them and they could just make alot of them to make more money and get people to buy them.
I don't understand the appeal of wanting to purchase alternate costumes, but it obviously applies to many people. Like you said they should be a lot cheaper. My only gripe with Fightng Game DLC is that it is very hard to incorperate (unless you're just applying visual changes).
If you add characters then you potentially give players an advantage, I can't think of any modes that should be added since a lot of them should be there in the first place. It's not like an adventure game where you can add whole new areas.
It's just tough thinking of creative DLC for fighters so it probably just forces people to sell alternate costumes.
...Who here remembers when costumes were unlockables? You know, little bonuses for actually playing the game or incentives to actually improve yourself.
I know DOA 5 is one of the few fighting games out there that has unlockable content, but most of the costumes just amount to palette swaps.
The day of actually unlocking things yourself are gone :/ I still dont understand why people pay for a different colour of Tshirt that they cant wear themselves!
I'd rather unlock through normal playing than "pay" for some costumes. There's a lot of 90's fighters that would make at least $100+ just on dlc alone if they went the "pay for costume" route.

I sure do miss the old days...
This reminds me of Batman too...sad. But as long as people buy, DLC will still be a big part of extra content.
If the swimsuits were wrapped around entirely new characters, yes.
