Assassin's Creed III Review | EDGE

EDGE: "ACIII cuts back on Revelations’ limper additions (there’s no tower defence here) and adds substance of its own, including a brave new world. The result is a refreshed, rejuvenated Assassins’ Creed; a solid foundation upon which the yearly iterative release cycle can be maintained; and a sprawling, detailed adventure to enjoy." (Assassin's Creed III, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 8/10

A decent score coming from Edge. I think I will still decide to wait until a price drop for this game. To be fair I thought this game had the potential to blow everything out of the water this year due to lack of competition. Where are all the good games? I am not excited for any new releases.

are review scores deciding your gaming purchase?

We will have fun with this game while he will not be satisfied until he sees a game get a 9.0, 9.5, or a 10. Screw the scores and enjoy what gaming has to offer. AC 3, Halo 4, Hitman Absolution, and Far Cry 3 day one for me hehe!!!

Reviews do help me decide what games to buy, but I don't buy games just based off their reviews. An RTS game could have a Metacritic score of 98, but I would never buy it because I don't like RTS games. If a game gets universally low scores and negative customer feedback then obviously the game won't appeal to me.

In this case I am just tired of AC games. It could get 9.5's off everybody and I would still wait for a price drop.

considering how high the series has been overrated so far, im gonna rent. Every ac game gets loads of high scores and a few truthful ones

It would have been the best 60 dollars you spent all year.

I was never a 'huge' fan of AC, i always enjoyed to an extent, like the beautiful worlds the games created, exploring them and the free-running aspect, also the games are packed with stuff to do.
That being said, i could never finish one due to a lack of interest the further i got into one, but mostly because i always found the controls for climbing and combat very clumsy and therefore frustrating. He never did what you wanted him to do and chose not to in the situations where you were trying to escaping or avoid being detected. If it only had the smooth controls of the InFamous games. Combat was a mess too.

I was kinda excited for this one because of the new makeover, but over the last few days ive read about the same issues with controls. Also the lack of "assassinating people" is disappointing too.
I will get it eventually though.

Well I trust these types of reviews more than user reviews...I.E. amazon has this game sitting at 3 1/2 stars. Gee- I wonder how many trolls it took to bring it down to that level? That places it on par with RE:ORC...so yeah, reviews really do mean nothing.

But an 8/10 for a game I know is really probably a 9/10 or 8/10 at the very least, yep- I'm happy with that.

Good review, great game.
