Assassin's Creed III Review | Destructoid

Destructoid: "While the game is often quite fun, beautiful to look at and empowering to the player, it doesn't offer much challenge beyond the endurance necessary to complete all of the single-player campaign elements. That said, it does offer answers to many of the questions players have in terms of the series' plot up to now and is easy to become absorbed in. Fans of Assassin's Creed should be amply satisfied by these aspects, but some of the shallowness found might be displeasing to lovers of other open-world titles which do a better job of making player investment feel meaningful." (Assassin's Creed III, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 7.5/10

Highly disappointing !

Dont judge by this review its a horrible review done.

Is the review ITSELF horrible, or is it horrible because of the score? Lets be real here. I think AC2 is one of the best games this gen, but Jim Sterling gave it a 4.5 from what I remember. Although I disagree, he backed up the score with valid reasoning on his part.

Yes i agree. AC2 was brilliant imo but JS hated it. Fair enough it was his opinion and he explained why thoroughly at the time.

K obviously the reviewer doesn't like assassins creed! This is the lowest scored review I have seen yet when others have been giving 10/10 and 9/10

7.5 isn't by any stretch a terrible score, but with expectations so high for this game, I'm sure it's a shock. I'm still aiming to get this game, as I really think Ubisoft is making progressions with this series.

The fact that it still has the automatic combat is the big turn off for me. I'm gonna wait a while for this one I think.

I canceled my Pre-order last night. I'll pick it up in a month or so probably.

I'm actually gunna wait to get the entire collection in 2-3 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Ubi had the balls to release another $60 AC game next year.

The combat has new controls and although it does look the same it doesn't feel like it. You also have to watch out for red coats firing at you, if your not fast enough finding cover or using a human shield u can easily die. This may sound boring but it is fun and a little bit more strategic.

It's still a bit automatic though and it's not too challenging. Hope they tweak it even more in future AC games.

It's not a bad review, it's just his opinion. It's really your own opinion that counts, if you liked the previous games then you'll love this one.

I strongly disagree with this review
eferreira  +   205d ago
lol at people who think 7.5 is bad. I guess to kids these days anything lower than a 8 is equivalent to a 1
GuyManDude  +   205d ago
Exactly. The scale is 0-10. This got a 7.5, which would be the equivalent of Ebert giving a movie 3/4 stars (a good movie review score).

Destructoid is one of the few sites that uses the whole number scale. As such, ACIII is above average in their eyes. A good game. There's no shame in a 7.5 from Destructoid.

For a triple A game, anything below an 8 is quite disappointing. Though everyone should just play the game and judge it for themselves, instead of relying on reviews.

Bad review!

No its a well written review. Stop focusing on the number at the end and read the words within.

7.5/10

No GOTY material here then...

Destructoid 7.5/10 is like a 10+/10+ AAA+
