Killzone HD (PlayStation Network) Review - Push Square

Push Square: "Despite its impressive art direction and intense sense of style, Killzone struggled as a PlayStation 2 title. On PS3 its issues are accentuated, with shoddy gunplay and repetitive environments amongst its most notable flaws. If you’re hell-bent on experiencing the origins of one of Sony’s most popular franchises, or simply want to revisit a forgotten favourite, then this is a worthy upgrade – but at £11.99/$14.99, you should approach with caution."

was a decent game then, is a decent game now. it may look better but that doesn't change the gameplay. its 8 years old sure a little leeway should be given because of that but not that much. KZ2 was excellent though

something about the clipping and frame rate would get to me. So I for one am getting this version because it will be much improved over the original.

I love the Killzone franchise, it is one of my favorite FPS's, but in all honesty, the first game hasn't aged well compared to other shooters of the time. I'm playing it now, and I'm enjoying it, but it is definitely dated, and even with HD visuals it's not very pretty. I wish it had got a total rebuild from the ground up like Halo CE got with its remake, but I know that would take a lot of time and money. The bots mode is actually kinda fun for some old school local multiplayer though. Anyway, this should only be played by hardcore Killzone fans because anyone else won't be impressed.

If you're a graphics whore you won't like it I've been playing through it and I love ever part of it like I used to, same hardcore gunplay, very challenging as it doesn't hold your hand at all. It was the start of the gritty war shooters and the industry never looked back as it were. Before that it was super cartoony colourful games with goofy weapons like Red Faction, Halo, Timesplitters, then Killzone came along and and the grey, gritty shooter was born.

First terrible review this game has received. As said above, ouch!

It wasn't good then and it isn't any good now. No amount of touching up will save it from being a bad game. The series only started being good when the sequel was made.

It was never anything more than a slightly average FPS. Killzone 2 and 3 are much better games in every way.

KZ2 is the best in the series.

Outside_ofthe_Box1848d ago (Edited 1848d ago )

Yeah, KZ2 is not only the in the best series, it's one of the best FPSs this gen, top 10 at least, for me personally it's the best FPS this gen.

Outside_ofthe_Box1848d ago (Edited 1848d ago )

KZ1 is better than KZ3 actually..

rezzah1848d ago

Already have 2 and 3 so 40 for the first game isn't worth it.

You can download it sepreately if you have KZ2&3. It's $15 on the PSN store.
