Borderlands 2 Xbox 360 "virus" spreading, deleting player saves. Patch in the works

Eurogamer writes: "Xbox 360 copies of Borderlands 2 have been hit by a malicious attack that is wiping player saves, developer Gearbox has announced.

A patch to fix the issue was submitted to Microsoft last week, but users report the problem is still ongoing.

oh shit a game on 360 got hit boo whoo..u guys like to mess with ps3 players when something happens(talking about skyrim DLC)so only fair karma hits u guys...but still i hope it gets figured out no true gamer deserves to work so hard and just to loose it all in the end....and custard this wasnt really targeted at you just to clear that up

Well this is a Virus that hit Xbox and PC it doesn't make the game unplayable, just unplayable with strangers for the mean time.

Plus a patch is getting released to adress the issue soon. Hardly a Skyrim issue similar to PS3.

In some ways this would piss me off, but I don't own the game and mostly plan on getting it on PS3 because of my Borderlands file is on it.

Me too, I just haven't got round to this game yet, but still looking forward to getting it.

This news sucks, but at least it's not affecting all systems. I'm sure they'll fix it soon enough and normal business will resume - just hope not too many folk lose their saves in the meantime :(

I'd advised people to avoid playing online till the patch is out, dont wanna risk your characters.

True, it has a lot of playability but with the release of the DLC recently and the announcement of more to come.. most players are just gonna wait for the Game of the Year edition (which we all know, is gonna come sooner or later).

Ok lets clear one thing up. This is not a "virus" as Gearbox stated. This is a hack by users that when they do this hack, then play with you they can glitch your game save and wipe your save. Its a loophole that is being exploited and a patch will fix it. Its a glitch or bug in code but its not a virus. LOLz
