A few days ago Square Enix released a few screenshots from the character customization of the alpha version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Today they went a step further publishing a full video of the whole process.
Why oh why can`t western developers create characters like this in mmorpg`s? In Guild wars 2 and world of warcraft the characters look extremely clumsy and stupid. Age of Conan must be the closest to make characters look and act naturally.
The west also leaves out all those chains, extra pockets, and spiked hair I love so much. But anyway in other games I usually get bored with character creation, but since this has the prelude theme playing during it I think I'll be able to take my sweet time creating a character I really think looks good.
Am I the only one who actually wants this game?
Nope, I can't wait for it.
Been waiting for this game since it was first announced back in..... 2009? Or when ever it was.
Very beautiful game, but I'll never play it.
and why would that be, my good sir?
Because, well not sure about this anymore, you gotta pay monthly. Very long game. I have tons of games to get through on PS3 and Vita (and my iphone ;)). Also RPGs I'm always iffy on joining, I get sucked in and play forever. They are naturally the longest games. With a online RPG like this, it will be hundreds of hours to beat it. The only game or series I would gladly spend hundreds of hours in is MH.
Nope, I want it too. I've been patiently waiting for the PS3 release. Seems like the wait will finally be over soon.
Tryed to apply to be in the alpha beta using my Square enix account but it won't let me apply.
Do you have an active account?
tried again said i need an active FFXIV account.
Im pretty excited for it! Just waiting for the update to come out for the pc version. hope to get in the beta though.
Although this is a great looking game, I can't believe there are already more videos and knowledge about this game out there than there is about Final Fantasy Versus XIII and that game was supposed to be in development longer. Plus, SE are still stuck in the "pay $15 a month" era.
A lot of freemiums are stuck in it :P
Really this old statement again? When are people going to understand that it's 2 COMPLETELY different teams working on XIV and Versus? The speed and development of XIV has nothing to do with the delays of Versus. Nomura is in charge of Versus and he is in some way working on almost every game coming out of SE so it makes sense the game he is directing would be coming very slowly more so when you considering the fact that they were reworking the graphics engine. As for why SE is charging a monthly fee for XIV. XI was and still is their most profitable game and it's because of the fee that it became such. They are hoping to do the same thing again with XIV. If that happens or not however remains to be seen.
Different games, different teams. Also. Thank goodness some developers are "still stuck in the pay $15 a month", and offer content regularly because they have the resources to do so.
@Reibooi and Abriael: Different games/different teams is irrelevant. We're talking about exposure here, news. And essentially the fact that this game, a game which is larger in ambition and scope than VSXIII and has been completely overhauled, has more news behind it and more exposure should be troubling. VSXIII has allegedly been in full development for quite awhile now and there is still not even close to the amount of news on it that this completely redone game has put out there. That's what I'm talking about. And stop justifying draconian MMO practices. Geez you don't have to defend SE on everything they do. There are plenty of quality MMO's that don't charge a monthly fee and are full of regular content updates.
I fell for it once on release..., I don't care how their videos and screens look, I wont fall for it again.
Super excited for it, been playing current build since 2011 and yeah while it isn't the best mmo it's still great and now it is going to be even better
The only way I'll play this game is if it's free to play.
