Skyrim: At What Point Did DLC Become Expected?

WC - Let’s be honest for a second, downloadable content, or DLC as it’s more commonly referred to, is a double edged sword.

From one perspective its extra content, generally created by the developer to compliment the experience of the original game but from the other perspective it’s merely an opportunity for the publisher to request additional money to complete the experience, which at some point we came to accept as the norm.

when the back of the box names features of the game and it specifically says "Add On Content" jerkoff.

They're actually lucky they've managed to avoid legal repercussions because of that. At the very least you think they'd throw some horse armor at the thing.

In Skyrim's case, the dlc was expected from the point that they announced it - way ahead of the games release.
