The banality of killing, with Spec Ops: The Line

Spec Ops is a smart, but self-mutilating, teenager of a game. It hates every moment of its existence and, since you’ve decided to experience the game, makes certain you experience its pain, its self-hatred, its auto-loathing, too. (PC, PS3, Spec Ops: The Line, Xbox 360)

I absolutely loved this game, yeah the mechanics were generic but the story... everyone needs to play it just to experience the story.

Agreed, the story blew my mind. Im still confused out the ending!

I want to play this game, but no matter how great the story is, it needs some proper gameplay first.

I'm waiting for the bargain bin version of it rather.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with the gameplay, it plays just like any other third-person cover shooter. Maybe it comes across as generic, but it's the last thing on your mind when you have a story so potent. Similar experience to Silent Hill (although it still plays better than that).

I picked up the game in the 2K bundle during Steam sale. Thinking it would be one of the weaker titles, I decided to blast through it first and leave the best stuff for last. Consider me completely surprised then, that it not only turned out to be one of the best in the pack, but one of the best and most important games I've played this year.
