In the first half hour of Forza Horizon I found myself lost on a web of open roads, got into a couple of head-on collisions with oncoming highway traffic, raced a plane, and watched my avatar lightly flirt with an underground race festival organizer.

Suffice to say, Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios’ latest effort represents a pretty big change for a franchise originally conceived to be an alternative to Polyphony Digital’s hyper-authentic Gran Turismo real driving simulators.

And at the same time, it’s not so different.
