Microsoft Expands Subsidized Pricing to 250GB Xbox 360 Consoles

Maximum PC: Microsoft will soon give gamers the option of paying just $99 for an Xbox 360 console with 250GB of storage when they agree to sign up for a 2-year Xbox Live Gold membership at $14.99 per month. It's the same deal Microsoft rolled out for its 4GB Xbox 360 console with Kinect motion camera a few months back, and is one of three subsidized pricing options gamers will have to choose from.

that possibility. It has probably crossed the minds of many consumers. thing is, we pretty much know what those credit agencies will do to your credit.

We have NO idea what MS is capable of if put in that position. Cross them and all your info belong to us.

Your credit rating would take a hit and MS would use a debt collecting company to get their money back. You know, like any other company that offers credit.

I mean that usually you're hit with a fee for breaking the contract. What I really want to know is how much that fee is. Would it be as high as paying off a regular priced 360 or will it be the cost that you wouldve payed had you stayed paying for Live? How much do they charge you for breaking the contract?

You have to wonder since this seemed to be successful with the Xbox 360 if they'll do the same deal for the Xbox 720? I think a lot of people would jump at the chance to put $100 down on a next gen console and pay $14.99 a month for a contract. My smartphone is like $59 a month, so its a relatively good deal if they choose to do that.

There's no doubt they will, this is just a test to fully implement the plan next gen. There's already rumours of multiple variants of "xbox 720's", so it makes even more sense.

It's an attractive option at first but i fear it'll only get more and more pervasive just like with everything else in the industry. It's almost a trap to keep u hooked to them, and i'm sure even sony will adapt it as well (along with a paid PSN service).

well that would actually be a good deal for the next xbox if someone who is gonna get live anyways but I dont think doing that with 360 is worth it since you could just get one for cheap anyways. MS would probably charge alot more for the next xbox if this is what they charge for the 7 year old one tho.

I think this is a fantastic idea that offers more consumer choice and all console makers should consider it. However, I also think they should strive to keep the price down. I don't have anything against people having the option to choose to pay more for the convenience of purchasing their console on a subscription based plan but taking on more than $100 to the price if they were to buy it outright is a bit excessive. You might as well put it on a credit card at 18% for two years. It'd end up being cheaper. I thought it was only about $50 or so more than purchasing outright.
