Between Telltale’s wildly popular point-and-click adventure styled Walking Dead series, Klei’s critically acclaimed 2D side-scroller Mark of the Ninja, and Vblank Entertainment’s heart melting Retro City Rampage, it’s obvious that traditional retro game styles are making a comeback. But is this a good thing? Has the video game industry evolved for the better, beyond these retro themes, or were video game simply better 20 years ago? In addition to tackling this question, this episode features:
Roger’s new, heavily lubricated game “Select Difficulty”.
A lengthy, heated, and occasionally convoluted debate regarding modern video game difficulty, gamer skill, freedom of choice, and quality in comparison to the 8 and 16-bit era.
A listener FAP session concerning Liam Neeson’s particular set of skills in Hyrule, and the forbidden love between Mario and Kirby.
Roger’s longwinded, yet inevitably simple contest to win a copy of Sid Meier’s Civilization V on Steam.
So simply scroll down and hit play (yeah, we are streaming now) to let all our audio nonsense wash over you, and possibly win you a copy of Civ 5!
