According to a rumor, right when Wii U launches this November, consumers will not be able to experience some of the new console’s features, including Miiverse and Near field communication (NFC), so that they will not be overwhelmed by the excess of its features. The rumor suggests that Nintendo intends to add features to Wii U over time, including the support of dual Wii U GamePads, to combat products from the firm’s competition.
Miiverse is such an important part of the wiiu and not to have it at launch would be just nonsense. NFC is ok since nintendo rarely spoke about but Miiverse is like wiiu big mystery social connection.
I mean as long as it comes out of the box with what counts then that is good for me. Looking back at ps3 and 360, those had features added to them after the fact.
i can see that those who got one after those periods never knew the platform without those features. those of us who there from the beginning, it's like watching your child grow.
okay that was a lame metaphor.
But Miiverse is a bit different. It has a purpose, and it isn't claiming to be things it's not, unlike other social media darlings of wall street. It's purpose is to connect people within the realm of the Nintendo gaming experience.
So it wouldn't be good overall for it not to be out, BUT personally I really don't care as I'm not getting the Wii U so I can talk to other people, I'm getting it to game.
That said, IF true, then the online features of Nintendo's network really are behind the 8 ball, and it should maybe concern us a little bit about the online FPS's and other online games at launch.
But again it would be egg on Nintendo's face because they have talked about it alot when discussing the Wii U.
But let's just remember that people. The Wii U is about gaming, so let's not go overboard with the lack of interaction.
Remember how many people were so antsy to get PS HOME. Really, really waiting for it like Cartman and the Wii episode, and then when PS Home arrived, it sucked so bad, and tanked so hard.
Not saying Miiverse will tank like that, just saying it's not really integral to enjoying the games, you just won't have any potential enhanced enjoyment from it...if any.
Personally I don't think this would be a deal breaker for any Wii-U fan.
as for NFC, it was admitted by Nintendo that no Wii U launch window games will use it yet -- so it doesn't necessarily mean they will exclude it at launch. Nintendo's been known to add stuff on their consoles that may or may not be used initially.
as for support for dual gamepad; similar to NFC, no launch window game will take advantage of it yet. although does not necessarily mean they'd exclude it, but probably something a Wii U update can also handle.
I can probably understand Nintendo TVii not being initially available for some regions since they'd probably need to partner with the region's available cable companies and/or similar services.
If cross game chat was any kind of priority for Sony, I think it's sensible to assume they woul've implemented it long ago. Since they haven't, what reason do we have to think we're going to get it, ever? It's pretty late in the console cycle to be adding such stuff now.
The whole cross game chat thing on PS3 though has been addressed. The PS3 doesn't have the ram to do it. The PS3 has 256 while the Vita has 512, 512 being the magical number for cross game chat.
pretty sure there's always room for improvement when it comes out. it's not as if xbox360 and ps3 came out "perfect" when it was launched.
so you might say, they expanded on the idea of having miis, and added social networking to it. but of course, these "social network" thing with miiverse may just be the beginning of something bigger. like i said, there's always room for improvement.
So if someone buys a wii u, will they be stuck having to use the old classic control or wii mote for virtual console games? I know u cant stream em to the gamepad & u cant use the pro for em..
I hope they come up with a better solution in the future... >.>
