Crysis 3′s player freedom strikes “a solid middle ground” between Crysis 1 & 2

OPM: Speaking to Crysis 3 producer Michael Read we recently asked about the game’s player freedom, specifically given the move over the series’ history from island to city, to city in a bubble. He told us that the third installment strikes “a solid middle ground” between the two previous chapters. (Crysis 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

i thought crysis 2 had one of the best campaigns of the year, maybe not on par with crysis 1 but it was a parallel experience.

i disliked the single player campaign so much in Crysis 2 that I could bring myself to finish it. Just a complete waste of time. Crysis 1 was a far better game, but the multiplayer for Crysis 1 was not very good.

So no more freedom then crysis 1, but more freedom then crysis 2?.. Too bad, crysis 1 was perfect in terms of freedom

I enjoyed Crysis 2, but I do agree, the free roaming in Crysis 1 (mostly free roam anyway) made it so much more fun than #2

I agree... just as long as the open maps are worth roaming. If it's just a big jungle, it gets old no matter how big it is, but the openness of Crysis 1 with the more urban setting of Crysis 2 (what I've seen of Crysis 3 looks like overgrown urban environments)would be great.

Given how poor the story was in Crysis 2 , even compared to the already poor one from Crysis 1 ... there shouldnt even be a need for a middle ground .

It's not as if C2 brought anything good to the franchise , it just removed stuff

Please let us mess around in crysis 3, i mean seriously in crysis 1 you could chop down a tree, use its branches to sneak up on a badguy and beat him to death with a turtle. In crysis 2 what could u pick up? Well anything, as long as its painted red and says explosive on it.

I think some of the compromises in Crysis 2 may have been a function of underestimating what they had to do for their first big multiplatform release. They were using their new multiplatform engine, CryEngine3 (which is admittedly pretty awesome), it was delayed, and then we got the weird post-release business with DX11 and high resolution textures. It seemed very rushed to me. I expect them to get their design and technical issues sorted to a much greater degree by release time in Crysis 3. In addition, they are adding Toad Tech. How can they go wrong when they have Toad Tech?

the single player in crysis 2 was ok, a good 7/10, the mp was a 6.5/10 to me

crysis 1 10/10 all around, the multiplayer was feaking amazing, epic ideas, great servers, i actually still game with a few of the people i met on crysis 1 servers way back 2007/08, a few of them are in my bf3 clan, crysis 1 mp was off the freaking hook

part 2, mehhh

lets hope they focus on the pc version as the top priority like most games should and have been lately.

Crysis sold over 3 million on pc while Crysis 2 sold just over 2 million between both the ps3 and 360.

A solid middle ground? So, not as boring as C2 but still more boring than C1?
