Top 5 best portrayed female characters in games

GZ writes: There's no defense against the claim that female video game characters, by and large, are designed with sex appeal as a primary goal. Their competence and functionality within the game are largely a secondary consideration. So when you do see a 'best of' list for female characters it's typically about which one is sexiest. So today I thought I would see if I could put together a list of female characters that became popular because they're cool, capable characters and not because they have huge knockers.

I definitely agree with Boss. She wasn't like other smart-mouthed, hyper-sexualized and overconfident female characters that we see in other games and media. Instead she was a average looking (maybe even unattractive) woman who was skilled, mature and wise. I liked her character the most in MGS3

Well, one of her outfits is pretty hyper-sexualized and impractical (the one in the pic, in fact). Calling that neck line "plunging" would be an understatement, with that classic barely concealed nipple look to really drive it home. Yes, it shows her scar, but it also emphasises her ample womanhood.

Characters wise, though, she's definitely up there, but my personal pick would go to Samus Aran (before Team Ninja made a mess of her).
