Kotaku - Despite taking a beating from some critics (including two of our own) Capcom's Resident Evil 6 appears to be a hit in Japan, nearly doubling the sales of Resident Evil 5 in the same time period.
Just like Operation Raccoon City was a big hit(somewhat) there aswell.
Even if we hear that the new installment sucks, we will still get it just to experience and try it out for ourselves. BRAND POWER!!!........(-_-).....
No wonder, japanese players have the worst taste in games. That's an objective fact.
It's just part of their culture man...Just like the west is dominated by shooters, Japan enjoys games about a little sister trapped in a room, robots and Monster Hunter.
Haha. The Japanese invented video-games kid. Go shoot something.
Apparently it's dependent on how you define video games, but in every case, you are wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... Kid.
Well yeah. I don't think anybody ever doubted the sales. The game looks good from the trailers, and it still has the Resident Evil name. It will sell regardless of reviews. Maybe I'll pick it up when I can get it for less than $20....or not.
I'm a very patient gamer; I'll buy the Gold Edition.
lol im waiting for it to be $20 also
I'll be waiting for it on PS+ :D
It's worth 60 just for leons campaign alone IMO.
See i'd have thought the opposite and that it would sell badly in Japan. Them more than their western gaming counterparts, would probably be more bothered by the change in emphasis of the series.
People are bashing a very enjoyable game. They have the survival horror people are crying about in Leons campaign and it's the longest one. Two other campaigns that run a good 5 or 6 hours and they all intersect in a great way...7 characters that play differently and you play their part of the campaign from different viewpoints with nary a hiccup in the gameplay. Some developers don't even get one narrative right. You guys are missing out on a great game. Leons campaign plays much like RE4 and people went crazy for that. Missing out big time...
Yes , it's enjoyable but it is not a resident evil game . 2 more trophies and i will get the platinum , im that bored ;) I also got dishonored platinum
lol i got the plat within a week
RE6 is a decent Action game, but there are a lot of flaws in the game. The timing for some of the events is just off, leading to excessive deaths. For instance, Jake's campaign is full of deaths that really shouldn't have happened. Like the scene on the snowmobile, it's a cool concept but the timing of some of the events that trigger happen to fast leading to unavoidable deaths. Then there is all of the qtes, which aren't necessarily a bad thing, but many of them are just to hard. They aren't hard in a smart way, but rather a cheap way. Like not wiggling the sticks fast enough. If you don't know that you need to wiggle a stick or repeatedly hit the A button then you have a split second to figure it out or you die. They could have kept all the qtes but just given us more time to complete them. Their is an ability that makes qtes easier, but you don't realize it affects story stuff because it isn't explained well. In short, the game is fun but it has plenty of hiccups that could have been avoided.
alot of strange things sell well in japan
RE6 Is a master piece
"maybe they were right"? Is this Kotaku journalist not smart enough to look at the weekly Media Create charts? Resident Evil 6 is extremely successful in Japan. In the US and Europe its selling below RE5 though.
Played the 360 demo for the first time last night; it's a far cry from old school Resident Evil horror, but as a shooter, aside from the incredibly claustrophobic FOV, is pretty satisfying.
To me I personally do not like RE6. Nothing to do with reviews or what so ever. Played the demo and it really didn't impress me. Felt kinda chunky personally. But honestly.... I ain't surprise with the sales. It's Resident Evil. As simple as that. Just an example, there are many complaining COD being old, lack of innovation, dated graphics and etc etc etc.... They hardly get any really great score except for probably the first 2 MW series. Almost every COD plays the same (something like a Fifa without any new stuffs but just updated roster). Yet their sales just blow through the roof one after another release. Simply because it is COD. So really nothing surprising here
