EuroGamer: "Doom 3 never stretches to extremes, even when slavishly following its predecessors. It's a game that can startle you, for sure, but one that more often bores, the gunplay a low thrumming drone rather than a high-pitched screech of rage. Doom 3 is part of the most iconic FPS lineage gaming has, so your mind tries to make it fit that. But in the end, it doesn't. The truth about Doom 3, and it breaks my heart to say it, is that it just isn't very good."
Github’s ‘Codes4Fun’ has released a really interesting mod for the BFG Edition of Doom 3. This mod adds HTC Vive and actual motion controller support to Doom 3, letting PC gamers experience id Software’s shooter in VR.
this game is amazing amazing experience in VR. I never had so much scary goose bump moment in VR or any previous game.

This game is almost 10 years old and the author was probably too young to play the original on PC. This game looks and plays really good especially compared to newer games. Multiplayer is a host advantage travesty, but the single player is where it's at.
Doom 3 was not a good game.
The first couple hours you marvelled at the clever interface and visuals.
But after that it became a routine of cheap enemy spawns, repeated level design tropes, story developments that tried to be interesting but ammounted to nothing, collecting pointless audio logs...
It had no variety whatsoever, the claustrophobic levels didn't fit some of the enemies' patterns...
Actually, the RoE addon was somewhat better. More varied visually, and at least the artefact made the action a bit punchier. However, the addon's story was even worse than that of the main game.
