Will Ouya be a Threat for PlayStation and Xbox?

TechPP: Ouya, the console set to be released March next year (or even later) with an Android-based operating system, has created quite some waves since its over-successful fund raising campaign. After gathering enough funds to fuel projects, attract game designers and ship thousands of units, it is time to analyze the possible impact of this product, in a modern battle of David, versus several Goliaths.

c'mon now, whens the last time there was even a peep of ouya? when the wii U finally got more press and got a release date all the ouya talk stopped.

doogiebear1376d ago (Edited 1376d ago )

Yeah, and EVEN STILL, the Wii U isn't that big a threat to ps3 and 360's already massive install base. It's more a threat to ps4 and 720 which will come later. So this Ouya thing has no chance. BUT it can still succeed outside of the major console race just by doing what it does best--cost very little and provide android games. Simple enough of a goal.

darthv721376d ago

Oh Yeah? If so then...(koolaid man voice) OH YEAH it's a threat.

@Darth

I believe it's pronounced Ooo Yuh. Also I'd just like to mention that the OUYA isn't a thread to anything. If this thing even gets released (The developers have nowhere near enough money to produce the amount of OUYAs they've promised), it will already be out of date, and game developers aren't going to want to develop for a console marketed as "hack this console".

OUTA a threat to PS3 and Xbox 360? Hahaha...

Hahaha... You can find this kind of content only on N4G.

SilentNegotiator1376d ago

It's not a threat at all.

But I hope it sees decent success. It clearly has a lot of passion for indie developers and ease of use. Unlike the consoles that are adapting more restrictive models and services like Steam that are only bringing on high profile indie games and, with their Greenlight thing, the flashier minecraft ripoffs and mods, Ouya has a model of ease for both developers and players. And if they secure deals with TV manufacturers to have them built into TVs, they'll definitely make a splash.

NYC_Gamer1377d ago

Nope,because those same indie games could be bought on PC/console.

Or phone.

Mobile phone games on my TV! Yeah... can't wait...

Not.

Maybe for the wii's audience......

t0mmyb0y1377d ago

People are ignoring your sarcasm lol

AngelicIceDiamond1377d ago

Yeah I forgot its N4G.

Sarcasm Mode: {ON} {Off}
ON {Off}

You all really think this little thing will be a threat to the most known and widespread consoles of today? Come on people....

Locksus1377d ago

I think it caters for a different audience altogether, so no, I don't think it'll be that much of a threat for either of them.
