8 Ways "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" Uses the Wii U's GamePad Controller

Complex: "Call of Duty is coming to a Nintendo console. We don't mean some watered-down, half-assed version with waggle and point-to-aim controls. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Wii U, we're talking about a bonafide, honest-to-goodness, fully-featured CoD game. The Wii U's GamePad controller has all the buttons that a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller has, plus that big, beautiful touch screen. So while every in-game function is performed just like it would be on the other consoles—you'll get used to it quickly—the touch screen allows a few extra 'perks.'" (Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Wii U)

Almost all of those reasons could of been combined into one, basically the mini/map and menu is on the game pad....

Gotta agree with you there. The screen on the controller just seems like a hindrance. When I'm playing the last thing I want to be doing is going back and forth between a screen in front of me and screen on my lap.

Don't forget sweet dual screen multiplayer and more control methods. They didn't mention it but im pretty sure you can still play with wiimotes although most people probably don't care about that. (I actually like IR for FPSs it works well and I like that I'm physically aiming at things)

I'm feeling you. I can't play a fps w/ dual analogs anymore. Gotta get back in the swing for the Wii U though!

Good to see I'm not the only one. The Wii remote and Nunchuck are 2nd only to keyboard and mouse for FPS games.

It still uses IR i.e. wiimotes for aiming, thank god ! That is confirmed by Treyarch. I'll still try learn dual analogs, but...meh... :)

I just wish someone would actually confirm something that's been on my mind about this game ever since it was announced: Can you use the Gamepad to control SP & MP vehicles?

Wouldn't it be awesome if the gamepad screen were used as the camera of the flying drones or gunships that they have in the game.

Well considering that the Gamepad is the only controller that comes with the Wii U console, I would say any standard game that comes out for the Wii U will use the Gamepad as there primary controller. Which means anything you do in a game, you are able to use the Gamepad for it.

That would be awesome, but from what I've played, the answer is (sadly) no. UNLESS you pull the image from the TV down and you're playing on the GamePad's screen anyway. But even then, it's cool.

just imagine an alien game on wiiu
and use the controller screen as that heat seeking alien sensor from the films... beeep.. beep.. beep lol
