Chris of www.c-techworld.com writes; Black Ops 2 is only around the corner, and for most Call of Duty fans its been penciled in the diary for months. But will the same hold true for this time next year?
"But will the same hold true for this time next year?" Even though there is no real innovation in the COD series, people need to understand its the only real 60fps shooter people do have on console. Since console gamer's don't have another choice for a 60fps shooters, sure they have Rage and maybe another 1-2 titles. However none of them provide a real MP experience with 9 v 9. Hence when you put all that together: 1. 9 vs 9 MP (sure it may not be much, but it doesnt require much to impress the console crowd anyways). 2. Smooth 60fps, Like i mentioned above its the only choice console gamers do have for a 60fps experience, sure most of them probably dont understand what 60fps is, however they can see COD is smoother than the other games they play and since no other MP shooter on console does the same COD has hit a sweet spot. A lot of people on N4G really dont understand this. They keep complaining, why they wont upgrade the engine and improve the graphics. Well the reason is obvious.. Activision knows Console gamer's.. Dont care about graphics. For them its better to keep poor graphics so they can keep the 60 fps handle.
In my view, 60fps isn't a big enough USP. There are a good number of first-person shooters out there running at 30/40fps that trump CoD in terms of enjoyment and depth. The "but our game runs at 60fps" statements just don't cut the mustard anymore - and the fact Treyarch has gone out of its way to innovate and better the franchise with Black Ops 2 proves it.
No. Next CoD coming next-gen.
We've heard this about each COD since MW2.
Maybe Yes Unless MW4 Comes Out Swinging
What about Black Ops 3? Or MW5? This is a pointless speculative article.
I'm Talkin About This Gen...They Kno they'll Have To Change It Up Next Gen Because Its Bassicaly Startin over
The last good Call of Duty game was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Last CoD exclusive to this gen? Yes.
This is activision bro. COD will still be available on current consoles for at least 2 more years.
I said exclusive to this gen, next one might be on next gen+last gen.
We still don't know WHEN MS/Sony will come out with their next console. Will it be fall 2013? Some are already saying it's probably not until at least spring 2014. If they were going to launch in fall 2013, usually they would have announced it at E3 2012. Since they didn't, it's very reasonable to think they won't be ready by then. I think 2014-2015 is more likely. Besides whenever they come out PC tech will be 2-3 years beyond them, and if those years are 2014 or 2015, even that superior PC tech won't be 'next gen'. There's still a pretty long ways until a true 'next gen' tech (and the games coded to play on them) will arrive. So to recap 1. 720/ps4 is more likely for 2014/2015, and it's possible one is 2014 and one is 2015 2. None of these AND the superior PC tech from those years will be true 'next gen'. We're still about four or more CoD titles away from a true 'next gen' CoD experience, and when it comes it won't be on the ps4/720 to experience it.
The last good call of duty game was call of duty 4 modern warfare, enough said.
