The Last Guardian Pushed To (At Least) 2014

Unfortunately for fans hoping for a late 2013 release, the game seems to have been pushed to at least early 2014. E-mails went out today from Amazon for pre-orderers stating that the game has a new delivery estimate of "January 02, 2014".

If this is true, the wait is long :-/ but I still really want this game

Relientk774201d ago

I would be fine with that, I'd still get it

BlindGuardian4201d ago

it will probably be like Twilight Princess on the Gamecube, built for it but released both on it and future gen tech at the sametime

Muffins12234201d ago

Yea,this is lookin like a ps4 launch title to me.....

nveenio4201d ago

It would be fine as a PS4 title. Their vision may just not have went well with the current generation of consoles. That's understandable. Instead of gimping their idea, push it back and let it blossom. Sounds smart.

wastedcells4201d ago

I'm at the point where I'm just happy it's still coming out and would be amazing if it was a PS4 launch game. Nintendo did it with Zelda when Wii launched and it made the wii launch that much more exciting. Then I never played my wii again lol.

ChrisGTR14201d ago

ps4 launch title? probably like 3 years into ps4 itll come out.

blumatt4201d ago

I'm completely fine with it being a PS4 launch title. Keep working on it and make it even better.

Any news is good news for this game these days....

I figure if the PS4 arrives in Late 2013, then TLG could come in late 2014, giving the user installed base of the PS4 a year to grow...

A top 3 game on my most wanted list for something like 5 years now, looks like the wait continues to year 7?

I bet in the end the wait will be worth it, and I hope and bet that the ship is on the right course. A full shift to PS4 is most likely the culprit here for the delay...

Either way, I cannot wait, even though the wait is pretty tough...

andibandit4201d ago

@Freak of Nature

"Any news is good news for this game these days.... "

hmm ok so if the title had read:

"The Last Guardian SCRAPPED"

it would be good news?.

Jazz41084201d ago (Edited 4201d ago )

This dev had a entire generation to get a game out and still failed. This is not good for Sony.

HarryMasonHerpderp4201d ago

If it needs to be a PS4 game then that's fine with me.
Obviously I want it released asap but if it's so "ambitious" that the PS3 is having trouble with the game then it must be something special and worth waiting for.

Neonridr4201d ago

lol.. like Duke Nukem Forever was something special?

HarryMasonHerpderp4201d ago

How can you compare this to Duke Nukem?
Team Ico's games aren't exactly the same as Duke Nukem and also this game hasn't been passed around from dev to dev for 12 years.

maelstromb4201d ago

Man.. this game has quickly become Sony's Duke Nukem Forever. The amount of if's, and's and but's coming out of TLG's already lengthy development has been disconcerting, to say the least.

bloodybutcher4201d ago

idk, i hope it won't have bioshock syndrome for me...i was so pumped for that game, then it didn't come out for ps3...and when it finally did, i was somehow feeling burned out and didn't even finish it-_-

Knight_Crawler4201d ago

I really hope this trend of announsing games too early stops next gen...some of this games are announced when they are in the concept stage SMH.

They should make it law that games can only be annouce when they are atleast 60% complete or announce it 2 years maximum before release.

Relientk774201d ago

Yea, it's sorta ridiclous

BitbyDeath4201d ago

Probably ran into technical issues which will only be overcome with new hardware.

Burning_Finger4201d ago (Edited 4201d ago )

PS4 launch title. I want this game to be epic and one's in a lifetime experience. I don't really mind the wait.

Conzul4201d ago

Yeah, I too will take it as a Ps4 launch. Greatness always has a price.

Marcello4201d ago

Oh ffs, this is getting really silly now. How long has this game been in development already, it must be 5 years atleast.

Kennytaur4201d ago

Ehm... five years isn't all that long, not when you're making a new engine for it. L.A. Noire took what, seven? And that used RAGE. The problem is it was announced WAY too early. Much like Versus.

Dread4201d ago

and most Sony exclusives.

smashcrashbash4201d ago

Question. Isn't that just a place marker? It could still be in 2013.

Blankman854201d ago

I'm pretty sure those words have been uttered about this game before, only the year is different. Last year it was wait til TGS, this year it was wait til TGS, next year will be. . .yup you guessed it, wait til TGS.
Right now the game is on my meh list, only because I refuse to hope any longer.

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88129d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183128d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie127d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.

The Last Guardian Is One of Gaming’s Most Beautiful Depictions of Friendship

Friendship is hard to depict accurately, but The Last Guardian does a good job of showing all its ups and downs through Trico and the boy.

Technical issues aside, this is easily one of my favorite games from last gen.

ClayRules2012812d ago (Edited 812d ago )

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never forget the emotional experience I had with this game. After waiting all those years, and than to finally play it. It was a visual beauty, along with offering a story/friendship between the 2 characters that was unique and unforgettable. Far surpassed my expectations. A masterpiece!

Technical issues aside, never have I played anything quite like it!

Magog813d ago

I enjoyed the game but it started out too simple and easy. If the entire game was as intense and challenging as the last 20% it would have been a 10/10 experience.

EvertonFC813d ago

Great game, so underrated. One of my favourites and top 20 games of all time

Phoenix76813d ago

I managed to grab the collectors edition for £40 about a year after it released. Was an enjoyable game, but I had just finished Shadow of the colossus, and whilst I enjoyed it, it was not as good when compared.
