There is no Xbox 360 price cut, Microsoft following Sony’s PS3 bundle proposition

Gamer.Blorge writes: "As the holiday season approaches, the one thing that seems to gaining in popularity is the console manufacturers playing the bundle game. Instead of instituting a true price cut for the consoles manufactures are trying to boost the value of the SKU by adding more value to the mix."

And so begins the numbers game...people will buy the consoles their peers play on. If price is dictating your purchase, Craigslist is a great place to begin shopping or just plain bartering for your system of choice.

A couple weeks ago (if that) - I remember I said price cuts are less likely, offering some bundles will be the option Sony and MS take.
Its more profitable for them to offer bundles, because the margin on games is not massive and both companies lose less if they offer big discounts on games.

Pretty simple business tactics, and its effective at certain times of the year

Funny, there seems to be a $50 price cut on all the Xbox 360 Holiday Bundles....

It's a temporary price cut, even Target says so

Still a price temporary or not ,still 50.00 less out of pocket.

I find it funny the article suggests MSFT is following Sony when it comes to an official price cut-bundle strategy. MSFT has always chosen this tactic over price drops and has done it every year.

Media and fanboys know this is a mistake on Sony's part so they spin this as a Sony strategic move and claim MSFT is following. MSFT is outselling PS3, there is no need to do a real drop when factoring in Sony this holiday.

*Sony can't drop and redesigned the PS3 to cut the losses rate not to drop

*MSFT doesn't have to drop because consumer demand is high and they have lots of software, only needing to worry about the nintendo offerings with a temp drop at a retailer.

"MSFT is outselling PS3"

Say what now? You do realize that we all have access to google and can look this up, don't you? By the end of Dec 06, the 360 had a lead of 8.7 million consoles over the PS3. What's that at now, and how did it get that way? Voodoo?

With Halo 4 and Forza Horizon available this holidy, MS doesn't need a price cut. Its not like they don't own the holidays here in the US anyway.

at this point.. aren't Sony trying to sell to people that already have 360s, and MS trying to sell to people that already have PS3s?

"at this point.. aren't Sony trying to sell to people that already have 360s"

I think more ps owners bought xbox than the other way around, especially here in the US. If not sony would of sold way more by now.

I would say you're right on a "core" basis. Casuals are still playing last gen consoles. Just look at the sales for the PS2. It's actually still selling and selling well for a console that is 13 years old.

Casuals always wait till the price hits that sweet spot. When the 360 and PS3 hit that $99 and $150 price point, sales will rapidly increase from the casual market.

Right now....it's all about getting consoles into households that only own the other competing console.

The Xbox 360 saw a holiday bundle since 2007. Sony makes one - MS follows SONY! Awesome.
