Persona producer teases Persona 5

Famitsu.com today posted a special talk article between science writer Kaoru Takeuchi and Atlus producer Katsura Hashino. Towards the end of their discussion, the next Persona is mentioned.

I hope this is PS3 exclusive. I'd like to keep the exclusivity for the main games going... I dont want the Persona fanbase getting as bad as FF's.... People hated 13 for going multiconsole... I dont want to deal with that headache.

I'm going to have to disagree, I think it should be on as many consoles as possible. Such a wonderful game that everybody needs to enjoy it.

And I wouldn't take the FF fanbase so personal that you would actually get headaches.

It just gets annoying that no one SANELY agrees on anything in the FF fanbase. I dont think FF7 is all that great. Some proclaim it to be the greatest thing since the creation of air but i think FF9 is better, both gameplay and story wise. I dont want Persona to turn into THAT. The fanbase has it qualms but FF is the epitaph for over reacting.

Not sure of that's going to happen since Atlus did put Catherine and Persona 4 Arena on 360.

Besides Persona isn't a graphics heavy franchise like FF.Its not like DVD limitations will hamper Persona 5's development since the franchise is part visual novel.

Well, this could happen; however, if the devs are going to optimize the game with the PS3's infrastructure in mind, they could very well just focus on the PS3.

Personally, I want everyone to enjoy this game. But if quality is going to suffer, I'd rather they develop this game on one console -- my preferred choice is the PS3.

What's with the keep Persona exclusive crap ? No original persona games , while all very well crafted have ever pushed it's console platform to any limit to justify keeping it exclusive .

It never used all disk space available would unlikely need to use a bluray disc , nor used some insane graphic engine that's only optimized for one console ..

Megami tensei games didnt even start on sony platforms ...

And it has been clearly hinted that while its own thing , Catherine and its engine were a test run of sort for a P5 engine .

There is no reason for them to cut themselves off from more potential sales , and no indication of the game suffering because of the 360' power or storage discs (or the wii u soon) .

It has to do with tradition. Every Persona game, except for Arena, has been on a Sony console. The Megami Tensei, which is the mainline in the franchise, is a different story.

However, I think 5 will be multi-plat simply because of Persona 4 Arena.

I know Persona is a spin off of Megaten . But it tends to show that their devs follow popular machines , not some kind of blind loyality to a machine . The ps1 and 2 barely had any competition in jrpgs .

And as much as people want to disagree , and again as awesome their games are , they usually dont break some technical ceiling forcing them to be prisoner of one particular hardware .

It's no god of war , mgs , Uncharted or Gear of War , on a pure technical level type of releases so far .

Well, shin megaten (the main series) isn't started on sony consoles but persona is. And the highest quality (imho) shin megaten games also in sony onsoles (nocturne, digital devil saga, raidou kuzunoha) which is ps2. So i understand why some people want P5 exclusive on sony consoles. But personally, i dont really care if P5 going mulplat. Atlus can get more profit and a lot of people also can enjoy the greatness of persona series ^^

Idk the new Shin Megami game is a 3ds exclusive. Catherine and P4 Arena were multiplat. Personally i dont care what its on as long as it releases soon. Cant wait for the Tensei 4 and P4 Golden.

A month or two ago Hashino also mentioned they were working on concept art right now, and hadn't necessarily started on the story yet. I'm guessing it will be released towards the the end of 2013 since they learned some of the in and outs of the engine with Catherine.

Please atlus, bring back two features that i luv so much from P1 and P2: negotiations with demons and rumor monger. I like P3 and P4 just like every persona fans. But P3 and P4 gameplay felt a little empty without those features. So i hope P5 have this features again ^^

If it is as epic as Persona 3 & 4 I do not F***ING care if the game is multiplatform.

Persona games are very 'adult' in nature in storyline & premise so as long as the team keep those intact i will be ecstatic.

It is a daunting task for Persona Team to once again replicate the greatness that are Persona 3 & 4 but i have tremendous faith it will be.

I'm surprised persona 5 hasn't been shown. PS3 has been out for what 7 years without a persona game from them? Kinda crazy no? I'd be happy if this was a ps4 launch title lol.

This is most likely for PS3.
