Rumor: Netflix coming to Xbox 360 and PS3?

According to a blogged up blog post on the interblogs, a Netflix survey that's supposedly been making the rounds suggests that the service may be coming to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. If you believe what Seanbajuice has to say, the survey asked, "If as part of your Netflix membership you could instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your TV with your PS/3 or XBOX 360, how likely would you/anyone in your household be to do that?"

i didnt knw they had plans for 360 but i vaguely remember sony mentioning netflix in their plans for downloadable video. I wonder how this will work with microsoft since they already pretty much have their vod service on lock not sure they need netflix help. Sony on the other hand needs netflix

How bout if Netflix started renting games as well as movies.

THE_JUDGE3360d ago

because we all know developers get paid when you rent their games. Stupid!

TheGamer3360d ago

DO you not need a HDD for streaming videos?

marinelife93360d ago

Guess you've never heard of Gamefly, Numbthumb, Gameexpress, or a small brick and mortar called Blockbuster.

Let me fill you in on a secret. Gamers rent some games and buy others.
Sometimes you just don't see the value in owning it long term so you rent it a game like a Heavenly Sword (amazing game). If the developer wants people to buy the game they need to add value and longevity (online mode, dlc).

services like the ones you have listed are the ones who hardly ever buy the games. Why would you buy a game that didn't have a long lasting online if you had an easy game renting service? Because of theses services devs are getting the money they deserve for their games. Who are you supporting with your renting? It sure isn't the makers of the games!

We're Going Blu-ray

Dear Mike,

You're receiving this email because you have asked to receive high-definition movies in the HD DVD format. As you may have heard, most of the major movie studios have recently decided to release their high-definition movies exclusively in the Blu-ray format. In order to provide the best selection of high-definition titles for our members, we have decided to go exclusively with Blu-ray as well.

While we will continue to make our current selection of HD DVD titles available to you for the next several months, we will not be adding additional HD DVD titles or reordering replacements.

Toward the end of February, HD DVDs in your Saved Queue will automatically be changed to standard definition DVDs. Then toward the end of this year, all HD DVDs in your Queue will be changed to standard definition DVDs. Don't worry, we will contact you before this happens.

You can click here to change your format preferences.

We're sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call us at 1 (888) 638-3549.

I have both systems so its not a real big deal but it does seem that HD-DVD is running out of bullets in this shootout.

Nice Tidbit there Mike:) +1 Bubbles

Hopefully the quality/resolution is good because streaming video to my 720p 32inch TV is going to look like crap.

If this is true it would be phenomenal... but I cant see this happening. With Xbox movie downloads and IPTV in the works I dont see how this would be a moneymaker for MS, thusly I dont see how they would allow it.

It would be awesome though...

sonarus3361d ago

yea thats what i am saying xbox dosent really need it but sony on the other hand could use a lil netflix help

I use Netflix be nice if they sent games as well as movies to yah. I wouldn't mind netflix on PS3 I guess already use it on PC though. Rather they focus on sending games via mail as well as movies.
