Gamers@Play: Resident Evil 6 Review

Lets not get bogged down discussing some of the “bad” scores this game has gotten out there. Lets forget about the Resident Evil games of the past and look at this game for what it is. Resident Evil 6 is a completely different breed of game from the “classic Resident Evil” and lets face it if Capcom had tried to bring out a game with tank controls and didn’t try something new we would complain about that too. Instead Capcom have tried to make a Resident Evil that fits in with todays audience and although they did fail in some ways they have achieved a very entertaining game with a lot of content on offer and some nice online co-op play. Lets look at Resident Evil 6 (RE6 from here-on) for what it is and forget about the past games for a while. 8.5/10

So the reviewer is basically telling us the hardcore RE fans to forget about RE 1,2,3 and forget about the survival horror elements that those games offered and focus on RE 5 and 6 action packed shooting and over the the top stunts and stupidity the the new games offer -_-

Why not just tell us what you really wanted to say which is that the true RE fans need to let go the past and bug off and let the new generation of shooter gamers enjoy the new RE games.

Resident Evils loyal fans deserve a lot more than what was given to them in 5 and 6. But I reviewed the game not the franchise and the game isn't awful but not worthy of the Resident Evil fans. Im disapointed with where Capcom have ventured with their game but realistically an old style resident evil game wouldnt sell as a major title.

Meybe if Capcom were to make one for PSN Store in that style it might work out I would love to see it. My list of Favourite RE games is like this

Then 6 then 5 if I had to. Fans wee hard done by with the last two games but 6 is not as awful as other critics have given it.

Thats the problem with RE 5 and 6, the RE games have roots and they have to meet certain expectations, look at the backlash that Ninja Gaiden 3 got for changing certain things up and the developers apologies for not listening to the fans and keeping what makes Ninja Gaiden loved by fans.

Capcom should have just created a new IP for RE 5 and 6 and called it Zombie shoot em Up or Zombie Warfare instead of using to RE name to sell more copies of the game. Sure it not a bad game if you compare it to your typical shooter game but when you stack it up against older RE games its a horrible game.

Going to have to disagree with that statement because look how well Dead Space did...no one is saying that the new RE games should be exactly like the older RE games but dont remove the key elements that made RE famous and trade them for cheap explosions and zombies that are smart enough to ride dirt bike at 80 mph and shoot rocket launchers at you.

I respect your opinion but dont respect what Capcom is doing which is using the RE to sell more games and that alone makes the game an automatic fail for me and many other so yeah it does deserve the bad scores its getting.

Some very good points Knight_Crawler. Capcom prob should have just made this game as a spin off title of some sort.

I take back what I said about release an old style game on PSN maybe they should have released each one of these episodes instead! Like you said created a new IP.

Im personally very disappointed as a RE fan but I know a lot of people that enjoyed the game and I enjoyed it too.

They need to look back at RE4 they got the mix just right in that one and kind of lost the plot afterwards. They got action crazy.

There still is a lot of enjoyment in this game but like I said fans wont enjoy it as much as Capcom have let them down very badly.
