WreckedPixel: ShopTo, the retailers who previously leaked the Crysis 3 release date (and were right) has seemingly revealed the release date for MGS Ground zeroes.
September 2013...sounds about right.
When I saw the title, I thought they mean't the actual game was leaked. I went from -_- to 0_0 in a flash.
I hope it's out that soon. It was only announced a little bit ago and judging by MGS's track record, it usually takes longer than a year from when it's announced to when it'll be released. crossing my fingers though
crXss: That is true. Metal Gear Solid games usually take around 3 years to complete. Ground Zeroes has been in development for quite some time and you can tell because they had a gameplay footage demonstration and that's not something we usually see at a MGS premier trailer. Usually it starts with a teaser then trailer then gameplay footage. The premier trailer had story and gameplay footage so it is safe to say that the game has been in development for at least a year if not more. Remember they started working on the Fox Engine right after MGS4's release which was back in 2008. God knows what they've been doing all these years. Not to mention they have opened a new studio in Los Angeles which will speed up development time as well. One more thing, according to Kojima the Fox Engine allows them to develop games twice as fast as they used to do it in the past so that again answers your question.
Yea, if it is true, that means we'll have to wait :(.
Siiiick. Maybe a little early? Still pretty cool.
awesome! day 1 in my ps3.
Makes you wonder if it is going to be on current or next gen consoles.
Kojima already confirmed its being released for ps3 and 360
it will be ;)
Would be cool if they did like many if the other launch games this gen, where it comes out on current gen, and there's a next gen version with improved graphics and other features
Lol I doubt nex gen consoles will even be out at least until Nov 2013 ( personally I see them launching in 2014 though)
Hopefully this is true
My PS is bricked right now, but if there's any reason to replace it it's MGS: Ground Zeroes!
ouch, that sucks!
I know right... I may wait till the Holiday Season and get a new Super slim PS3, if the price is right.
I hated the super slim, but I saw it at a store and it's actually really nice. They had it with the other models side by side, and it defended itself very well even against the fat. I recommend you buy it.
Thanks man! I was planning on getting one earlier, but £249.99 is a little steep so Im gunna wait it out I think.
its only 249 if you buy the bundle with 3 game the system itself is 179 from sainsburys . it also looks a lotnicer sleeker the the pictures online made it out to be.
"MGS: Ground Zeroes Leaked By UK Retailer"
Misleading title.. you meant leaked the Release date..
Sounds about right.
What I do know is Kojima will release it when its perfect :)
Less than a year's wait. Much shorter wait than any other Metal Gear game. I would/will be ecstatic if/when this turns out to be true.
Ay ay ay, that's a long time away... People are saying that this is a short wait for an Metal Gear game, how so? MGS4 was the last major MG game and that was released mid 2008. If this game really is gonna drop in November of 2013 that's like 4 and half years we've been waiting. That's roughly the same wait between every major MG game (I know Peace Walker was critically "major" but it's still a spin off).
I thought peace walker was a spin off until I played it, maybe my favourite of the series and definitely not a spin off story wise or gameplay wise. Hopefully ground zeroes takes some of what made peace walker so great - (home base, unlockable and upgradeable weapons/equipment, limited weapons/equipment during missions) - and puts it on a more powerful machine.
Indeed .. THE BEST MGS EVER RELEASED
Seriously? I couldn't continue playing PW after about 2 hours into the game because I thought it wasn't a worthy MGS. Imo it's not a bad game at all, it's just a bad MGS.
Kojima himself said Peace Walker is 'canon' and that he should have called it MGS5
How can we be waiting for Ground Zeroes for 4 years if it was only announced a few months ago? I don't think KP have been working on Ground Zeroes itself for 4 years, I mean they had to make the engine first at least, and you can't exactly be waiting X number of years for something that you don't even know exists. (I get what you're getting at but to say "that's like 4 and a half years we've been waiting" isn't right.)
Unsure if it'd be accurate, but they said they started working on the new title right after MGS4.... MGS4 was 2008, if they were working on it, there had to have been a build of the Fox Engine in alpha or Beta stages or the like. If a game was being made with it while the Fox engine was being made and updated further, am sure it'd be fine in which the game would just become more efficient and get optimized with the engine simultaneously. I don't get how you think that just because it was Announced a few months ago, that that must mean when its announced, it must've been Right at its birth of concept or something....they had a whole level, their concept, their story all done, characters, Everything is done nearly. All other MGS games would be teased and shown barely anything THEN a trailer. With this it was, teaser images then a full blown gameplay trailer. 4 and a half years isn't right for what reason? When did MGS4 come out? 2008. Though granted PW came out 2010, IT was being made by an alternate team to which Revengence was being made by the others. If people didn't play PW, then the last MGS game they played was . . . . . 4.5 years ago.
@Mounce: I think you're forgetting how much time went into Peace Walker and the initial version of Rising. Heck Rising was hanging in the balance for at least a year to 18 months, and they had two different teams working on those projects AND then people from the Peace Walker team reportedly were put into the Rising team too to try and sort out some of the issues.
Peacewalker was definitely NOT a Spin-off... It was considered to be to unofficially be MGS5 at the time of release before any news of future-MGS titles came since Ground Zeroes is apparently a PREQUEL to MGS5 itself, yet Ground Zeroes is a Sequel to Peacewalkers.... You can't really call a game a SPINOFF yet be a Sequel and Prequel to the Big-Names. Just because PW was on PSP, doesn't mean it wasn't a Main-Plot title, especially since it was comically the longest and largest MGS game to ever exist, and I hope Ground Zeroes does the same pattern, MGS PW to me, was the BEST MGS game in terms of gameplay, I didn't much like the story or 'main villain', but the Gameplay was SO god damn refined and perfect. The Spinoffs were basically Ac!d and Portable Ops.
It must be true, especially when their box-art mock up says "Metal Gear Solid: Hollywood Movie"
(Update) Title is supposed* to read MGS: Ground Zeroes Release Date Leaked By UK Retailer When you screw a title for hits make sure you keep the update clean. Although I suppose this would be too much to ask for. You're only a journalist.
"leaked" ha. retailers dont know.
They should of announce it next year.
lol you must not be familiar with how kojima announces games. This is VERY LATE for him to be announcing a game compared to how he usually does it if that release date turns out true. MGS4 was announced in 2005 and it didn't come out till 2008. This announcement however and release seems fairly normal cycle
For fleshing out my complaint for me, I was too lazy to. Devs need to stop announcing their games so early. Particularly Sony.
Honestly an announcement approximately a year before release seems fair to me. Time to build excitement for the game. Much more than a year and I would agree. A year is fair though
Seriously, every time I see that picture, I think its Sam Fisher. This looks great, cant wait to play it.
the person from splinter cell right?
I can't wait to play. Metal gear, shenmue, zelda, halo and metroid are my top series.
Big Boss gets 4 games and Solid Snake gets two?
