Feature: Reinventing Nintendo's Major Franchises on Wii U

Thanks to its fresh approach to gaming, the Wii has been a breeding ground for reinvention throughout its six year life cycle, offering us established franchises with a twist due in part to motion controls. Zelda, Mario and Metroid have all received enhanced gameplay thanks to Wii, yet there are many franchises that never got the re-imagining they perhaps needed to put them back in the public eye. In fact, many of Nintendo’s biggest franchises simply failed to appear on Wii at all, prompting many to question their existence in the future.

So with Wii U now on the horizon, is it time for these dormant franchises to make a return, and just how could Wii U reinvent some of the classics of Nintendo’s back catalogue? Nintendo Life provides five big-name examples of comebacks that could excite gamers. (Industry, Nintendo, Wii U)

If there is going to be a future console version of Monster Hunter it'll be on the WiiU

At this point, a new metroid and zelda would make me run out and buy a wiiU, but since they haven't announced either of those, i'm staying put.

I think Nintendo should give their less popular ips a chance to shine on Wii u.

I wouldn't mind an HD earthbound or fire emblem with full online capabilities.

I want Kid Icarus and Star Fox. I'd like to see another Kirby. I'm really waiting for a new Metroid. The new controller scheme is perfect.

Make it so, Nintendo.
