You Can Play Virtua Fighter 2 In Yakuza 5

Sega’s Yakuza series has nods to their company’s history and Yakuza 5′s virtual Virtua Fighter 2 arcade cabinets tops them all. The Virtua Fighter team collaborated with the Yakuza team to make Virtua Fighter 2 playable in Yakuza 5. You can select version 2.0 or version 2.1. Virtua Fighter 2 has a two player mode and Sega hints there may be original Yakuza 5 elements in the game. (PS3, Yakuza 5)

I'm sure it will, every Yakuza game to date has come to the US, and the Yakuza collection with Y1 and Y2 in HD is supposed to be coming before too long... even though we haven't heard much about it lately. The Yakuza series is a great Eastern franchise that Westerners love once they get their hand on it.

Ryuu Ga Gotoku Kenzan (龍が如く見参), a game that is regarded as one of the best in the series, never came to the West. Same goes for the PSP iteration (クロヒョウ 龍が如く新章) aka Black Panther.

The main series, however, should find it's way to our side of the world as it has before.

Yakuza 5 is supposed to be the biggest and best game in the series, and is a day one import.

VF2 will bring an amount of nostalgia unsurpassed for the generation who spent time in Arcades in the 90s.

There was simply nothing better than starting your bar night with a few beers and friends in the arcade and play a few hours of VF2 and some Sega Rally.

A real jump for such an underrated series.

So the full VF2 game is playable in an arcade.

Ok, thats pretty cool.

Put Wonderboy, Golden Axe and Alex Kid in there too.

Old news, but still cool.

Love the Yakuza series. Here's hoping 1 & 2 HD plus Yakuza 5 make it to the West.

About bloody time!

Shenmue had the likes of Super Hang-on, Afterburner, Outrun and Space Harrier in the arcades. Why Yakuza has taken this long to add something other than a bloody crane game is beyond me.

Some more Sega classics would be a nice touch though.

Well they had AnswerxAnswer but Sega of USA took it out cuz it was too much trouble for them to translate a whole quiz game.

I love most mini games in games, they just add a nice change of pace.

But i cant believe how big Yakuza games are, its kinda fun but half the time when i play it i think 'if only this was shenmue'

Sometimes I wonder if DC flopped earlier and Shenmue was made into a PS2 exclusive, would the Shenmue series be finished?

Now that's just awesome. I always wondered how cool it would be like to have actual arcade games in a game like Grand Theft Auto (DDR anyone? lol).

It's a genius idea to include a game within a game.

I expect more games to have this feature. Doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to institute.
