Microsoft Kinect: Why it failed to do what it was supposed to do even though it was successful

Microsoft launched the Kinect late 2010, just in time to hit the holiday rush. Sony and Microsoft knew that they needed an answer to the Wiimote. So Sony brought out a Wiimote copy that just so happened to be a lot more accurate that the original Wii motion control and Microsoft released kinect. Eventually Nintendo would release an upgrade to the original Motion control called the Wii motion plus. It’s accuracy would effectively compete with Sony’s Move device. Kinect was a totally different and ingenuitive approach to motion control that caught a lot of casual and core gamers attention. It just so happened to work as well!

Good article I agree, tons of hype with no substance. Same with move and even the wii.
