Forza Horizon Review – Pedal To The Metal | Gaming Examiner

Tony Hseigh: "I remember when Gran Turismo 5 first launched, there were some rumors on various forums of an update to the game (or a spinoff) that would add open-world driving to GT5. It sounded too good to be true, and eventually, all us sim racing fans realized it was just a pipe dream.

Then the VGAs hit later that year, and we were given the Forza Motorsport 4 teaser trailer. The trailer was packed with live action shots from the show Top Gear, and eagle eyed viewers noticed that there were some quick shots of night racing and off-road racing. Again, the rumor mill started spinning, and we all thought Forza 4 would have day/night transitions and off-road racing. Again, we were wrong." (Forza Horizon, Xbox 360) 9.5/10

I can't wait to get this this winter. This and Halo 4 should keep me very busy until months into next year.

Forza games are the only games I but new anymore.

Test Drive Unlimited is one of my all time favorite.

I just really started playing Forza 4, will wait for the first official price cut and buy this.

These great scores have got to sting a certain percentage of the fans here at N4G. A new developer putting out a new racing game that is receiving critical acclaim that only a few have received before. Truly a torch has been passed, and I cannot wait to pick this fantastic game up on the 23rd.

What a lame-assed attempt to stir the N4G pot. Surely you can do better.
ChunkyLover53  +   871d ago
Speaking the truth stirs the pot around here? I didn't say anything that would get anyone up in arms.

Obviously if I were trolling I could have been much, much clearer. You probably assume I was strictly talking about Gran Turismo, but I was talking about more than Sony's troubled racer. The Need For Speed series used to get plenty of acclaim, but there is a new kid in town, and its called Forza Horizon.

On every damn Horizon review too. I'm a GT fanboy that never sounds like this douche. His name is even douchey for crying out loud.

'These great scores have got to sting a certain percentage of the fans here at N4G.'

Please explain to me how this isn't a wholly unnecessary statement. It speaks zero to features or qualities of Horizon, nor does it compare/contrast the title to another racer. It's sole purpose is to gloat and get under some peoples skin, hence stirring the pot. It's a poor attempt at subtlety and it's not the least bit clever or funny, which qualifies it as lame-assed, and leaves it with no redeeming value whatsoever. It's no different than someone gloating, poking and prodding if it had received a low score.

Then you reply with basically an 'I didn't do anything wrong' post, yet are unable to not take another shot by labeling GT as Sony's troubled racer. Many franchises would love to be as troubled as GT. I didn't need to assume you were talking about any particular game to understand exactly what you were trying to do with your posts. Your veiling failed, man up and take your lumps.

Hooray, scale back the car list and have more dlc. What a novel concept.
ambientFLIER  +   871d ago
You think an open world arcade game is going to have 500+ cars?
baodeus  +   871d ago
Well which is better?

Same amount of pollish car roster as the other guyand constant new up to date contents through DLC like u said

Or

having 80% of the game composed of unpolish of different version of the same car rosters and spending years latter just to have a black border as a place holder for cockpit view?
thebudgetgamer  +   871d ago
I'm a big fan of both, I like GT5 slightly better than Forza 4 only because there is more varients in GT5. For example, If I'm tired of carrer mode I can try licsense tests, Nascar events, Rally cars, go carts. But at the end they are both extremely well made games that I will allways buy.
baodeus  +   871d ago
Me too although I like forza 4 a bit more for being well rounded and the online community. Both driving feel the same to me.

I'm with you on the black bar thing, it is jarring when you go from a finely detailed interior to well black bars.

I got a new wheel for this :)
