Review Forza Horizon | Destructoid

Destructoid - A new kind of Forza

I've been trying to peg Forza Horizon since its announcement earlier this year, but Turn 10 and Playground Games never gave it to us straight. Is it more of a racing sim? Or a casual, arcade-style thing? Somewhere in-between?

Now that I've spent some quality time with the game, I can give it to you straight. Forza Horizon is an open-road (like open-world for cars) racing playground. It takes the Forza Motorsport engine and physics and plugs it into something more casual, and way less serious. Imagine a Forza game with a story and dialogue and a dubstep radio station. Weird, right? (Forza Horizon, Xbox 360) 9/10

Played the demo yesterday...
... it looks absolutely gorgeous and played nice...

...but I didn't like the rubberbanding during the races, I didn't like the lack of a replay-function where you could watch your gorgeous race again, and it was sometimes too difficult to see if a car was another racer which you could safely go behind, or a slow non-racer, in which case you would crash into their rear.

Also, they already mentioned they have plans for DLC-milking this, and I don't want any part of that practice, so I'll be avoiding this for now until there's a 'complete' edition being sold, IF I'm still interested by then.

They only milk you if you let them.

@Yi-Long
There is a replay feature in the final game, just not in the demo.

They gave GT5 and Forza 4 a 10. They just need to have Not Jim Sterling review these games. lol

not knocking this game in anyways, but by the sound of it, its more like a need for speed game.

could be cool for xbox owners.

Yes it is like NFS (Arcade racing game with simple driving physics) which imo its not bad.

but after playing Demo I'm gonna buy NFS most wanted cause it has huge roads/maps better graphics and better online....

True EA is known for their awesome online integration. And I wish I was you, having played both Horizon and Most Wanted to be able to ascertain that Most Wanted has better online. I'm jealous.

Damn, the Forza tradition continues! People need to keep in mind that this game was made by Playground Games, who have a stable of developers who made the Project Gotham games.

The demo ruled, the game looks amazing and I'm glad the reviews are so positive.
