ANYTHING you pay for a game after the initial $60 is a way of upcharging the product! I feel devs WANT TO raise the price of their games above the standard $60 Next Gen and that the massive additional sales of DLC/Season Passes are a way of devs seeing how much you'd pay on 1 of their most popular gaming franchises! Just a thought I've been thinking of lately!
As a game developer, I would be severely offended if my game had an online pass. It hinders the popularity of your game because some people won't shell out money for access...Plus, if your game has been out for some time already and the online number of players is dwindling, what incentive is there to buy a pass when the game could become stale in a matter of months? And lets look at the elephant in the room. COD doesn't have an online pass, HALO doesn't...most popular titles don't go with it. EA absolutely loves the idea, and even Ubisoft has begun to jump on that. They haven't been punished for it and it isn't a massive official issue, but still...It comes off as borderline desperate, at least to me.
