PS Vita was awarded the T3 Gadget Award for Gaming Gadget of the Year last night at a London ceremony.
The Sony handheld joined Raspberry Pi (Innovation of the Year) as the big winners in gaming.
Excellent ammunition to troll the trolls at Gamespot. ;D And look at the comment section on that site, so many haters... Why do people hate the Vita with such a passion anyway? One guy says that the Vita is like a clean restaurant that only serves 20 different kinds of dog turd. =/
Judging by what I read in those comments, and comments elsewhere, people seem to use the argument that it's software that makes hardware. No, it's software that makes hardware appealing, but if hardware is good, hardware is good, and no one should take that away from the Vita. Having got a 3DS on launch day, and a Vita, I can safely say Vita's first year on the market has been far better than the 3DS' first year on the market, software wise. The 3DS has definitely picked up steam but up until about November 2011 the software line up was just unacceptable. While I think Vita could benefit from moor high profile exclusives, similar to the 3DS' best 3rd party games (Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil, I'm looking at you), that'd be great. For now however, Vita is delivering, and I really, really don't understand the internet wide hate for the device.
Well Said + bubbles IMHO I have said in the past that Sony is repeating the unfavorable PSP stuff with the PSV BUT they are also repeating the good & favorable PSP stuff at least for me as a gamer - first and foremost. (i am looking at you immature sales-gasm dickwagon whores!) particularly in the hardware future proofing department & the action games department RPG, Adventure, etc looking at the PSPs blooming performance from time to time, PSV is on track to be PSP's successor as the RPG King platform. This identity of the PSV is shaping up very well slowly but surely & Nintendo is trying to take that identity away. The games line up is really growing & growing on me... BUT Sony needs to step their game up on marketing campaign & stop relying on hardcore loyal fanbase for marketing, advertising, sales, & word of mouth promotion. Damn you Sony! Do your PR part! Sony needs to advertise a price cut on the unit & memory cards ... even if it is just a little price cut. A price cut is a price cut in the eyes of consumers & enuff to compel curiosity or purchase. Basic psychology. Sony & PlayStation ain't the premium expensive brand it was once before. Why dwell on the past? And where are games for children? the AAA titles from 1st party developers? that cable or wireless AV Out?
Owning a Vita for 8 months now it definitely is Gaming Gadget of the Year. I use it everyday if it playing games, surfing the interwebs, Youtube, Netflix always something to do on this device. Sent from my PS Vita
I think it's just the price. Having my Vita for half a year and playing practically only on it for six months (I don't have much time to play PS3 at home), I can't see any more reason for haters to hate. Because games are there for Vita.
And it is totally worth it
Hardly surprising, what else could it really have been that released over the last year?
What about the 'new and improved' 3DS? That would have been considered too, right?
I'll give you that, but it was always inevitable that completely new hardware would win over a revision. The Vita is fully deserving of the victory as it's a brilliant piece of tech, it's just a shame people seem (understandably) reluctant to shell out for it.
and Little Big Planet vita is my goty so far, i love Starhawk but LBP vita in my opinion is the best LBP in the series, totally awesome!!!!
Well deserved , it is an awesome little gadget. Only people that hate is the ones that can't afford.
That's awesome. We have so many PSV games coming out later this month that my wallet is going to be crying.
yuppies I love my vita! It's hard to leave it for my fat XL 3DS. Then again pokemon white 2 came out!
Congratulations to Sony and their PSVITA. @wishingW3L Gamespot is possibly the worst gaming site on the internet. I left that site 405 days ago.
of course it did! its by far the best handheld gaming system ever created
People say dedicated portable handhelds are dying... If that is so, atleast the PSVita came out with a bang. The hardware will give gamers enjoyment for many years.
Best handheld device ever manufactured. Vita is the first & only handheld device to bring current console quality to mobile gaming. - FACT The battery life is amazing. - FACT It has no games - The library is small, but growing. This holiday the games will come and the system will be more appealing. - FACT All the Vita hate is mind blowing. I can understand hating on Kinect because it's lame, but Vita is probably the best piece of hardware of its kind.
>>It has no games
BS. I play only on Vita for six months.
Kinect won the award last year. Just sayin'.
Touche! For what Kinect actually is, it is good tech. I just think it isn't a mainstream piece of equipment. I see it rather as a novelty item for a niche market. It took the success of the Wii and tried to make it its own. Motion gaming on Kinect is cool if you're 10 and wanna pet tigers because mommy is to cheap to take you to the zoo, but for gamers who want to be immersed in an adult adventure for more than a few hours, Kinect is not going to cut the mustard. ZFor the record, The Move is lame too
