343′s Franchise Creative Director Josh Holmes on Halo 4

Interviewer Steve Wright writes, "At last weekend’s EB Expo, I had the chance to sit down and speak with Vancouver native Josh Holmes (Canada, represent!), the Franchise Creative Director of Halo 4 at 343 Industries. Josh was kind enough to answer a ton of questions about the upcoming scifi blockbuster." (343 Industries, Dev, Halo 4, Xbox 360)

Shaping up to be GOTY! Lots of quality games are coming out, but Halo 4 looks to be on a whole new level.

Yeah that's a no-brainer. I been hearing nothing but "the best Halo yet" from hardcore MLG Halo players. Those are the reviews that matter to me most than random sites.

"Frank O’Connor is really responsible for the over-arching canon of the Halo universe. That’s things like setting up the story and working with partners like Greg Bear to determine what stories we want to tell and the best ways to do that. Then we make sure we can connect all those stories. It’s a big job, and a lot of times Frank and I talk about how easier it would be if we could just disconnect things and have them in their own little corners. Ultimately, it would be less rewarding for the gamer, so the hard work is definitely worth it."

This is were Halo excels over other games...the Halo universe is massive but yet Halo makes it that you understand and connect with the universe, everything, person and event has a purpose in Halo.

I have not even played Halo 1 or 2 and got hooked by playing Halo 3 and yet I know who the the flood and forerunners are.

Only 2 games come close to providing a compelling story as Halo and that is Metal Gear Solid and Mass Effect but even those games dont make you feel like you connect to the universe or easly understand what is going on...hell even Kojima said that he does not know certain things about the MG universe and has to refer back to notes.

Mass Effect just threw everything thing at you too fact...Bioware tried to gram so much in trilogy that it felt rushed and sometimes you were like WTF is going on.

In order to understand MGS you would have had to play all the PS1 and PS2 games...I was playing MGS4 but I did not understand what was going on.

Halo 4 = The game of 2012. If you disagree with this, you have obviously smoked too much of my product.
