I always giggle when I hear about Dvd/Blue-Ray playback being touted as arguments for not owning a Nintendo. More often, this added feature seems to be related to the death of the console. What does it say when you have your console be a technological swiss army knife besides, "we don't make software." MS/Sony are making a big gamble coming out with $500 consoles next year in this kind of market. There won't be any consoles selling at a loss next gen. Keep your consoles from bricking please!!
I agree. I don't buy consoles so I can watch a Bluray on it. Personally I would rather have a state of the art bluray player rather than a 6 year old one. Plus, it keeps the cost of the console down, which I am perfectly fine with. I stream stuff from my PC via Windows Media Center to my 360 all the time, so if Nintendo is going to allow me to stream my movies from my computer as well, then bonus.
ps3 is stll a state of the art bluray player and can still go toe to toe with the best even 3d blurays in all. did you know bluray lens are under 12$ wii u uses unlicensed bluray format so it cant play bluray because nintendo do not want to pay sony so yes the wii u technically has a bluray drive just like the wii had a dvd drive but unlicensed non the less
the moral of this story is a bluray drive is in the wii u it cant play bluray tho (if so nintendo would have to pay sony) but look costs are down
ps3 will be the default bluray player of choice when prices go down it attracts new bluray consumers that says wow it plays games too!
PS3 is not a state of the art bluray player. Sure you can update the firmware, but you can't update the read speeds of the device. Something that gets faster and more reliable with newer tech. Don't be silly now.
And I have a Sony home theatre system with a 3D bluray player, so I could care less if the Wii U has a licensed or unlicensed bluray player in it.
Most people who watch Netflix on their TV do so through their Wiis. http://www.joystiq.com/2011... I'm guessing Nintendo took notice and decided to take it to the next step.
yup, pass that controller over to someone who enjoys games.
Now for some games...
