Why Microsoft's MyAchievements Program is an Insult

Original-Gamer.com: "Revealed two weeks ago, Microsoft unveiled their achievement rewards project called MyAchievements which gave Xbox Live Gold subscribers the chance to earn Microsoft Points for achievements they’ve earned previously and purchase items with a small refund. For those who don’t know, the way it works is if you have an achievement score of 3000 or above, you get rewarded for it." (Microsoft, Xbox 360)

lol, thats all I have to say.

1. An achievement/trophy is something you have a choice not to get.

and now that they decide to do something with them its an insult?? DON'T PARTICIPATE IN IT.

I do agree with the article though, "This program is a pure public relations sham." hit the nail on the head

As long as it's free I don't care. However, I agree it's practically a pointless addition. 20 MS points every birthdate month, and 1% - 2% back.

How about 200 MS points and 10% - 20% back.

Then don't sign up for the reward program. It's that simple. Next?

People need to understand criticism is necessary for people to see the potential of something.
If you are satisfied w/ the status quo, then great.

Otherwise, if you think something is lacking, it's good to be vocal about it. The worst thing that could happen is that they ignore it. On the other hand, you might get a re-haul of an service.

Very well said. I know it is more (a whole 25 cents more lol) than before, but we are paying for Xbox Live.

Bout time consumers bargained for a better deal. They are a multi-national, multi-billion dollar company that could buy your house, your car (and probably your husband/wife) a million times over.

The point that some people really think their achievements / trophies have a real money - countervalue is just retarded. So no, this is not an insult. How on earth can anyone say he wants more money / discounts for his gaming performance. Ridiculous.
ChunkyLover53  +   227d ago
I would suggest not signing up for it then. I think the bigger insult would be to offer nothing, yet again another case where gamer's feel entitled. Seriously, how can people complain about free stuff?

funny how microsoft will give 2% after you play what would take hundreds of hours
yet the american ps store is giving 20$ back if youspend 100$
not only is it a better deal, it's also easier.

My 360 friend told me about this program, I'd never heard of it before. He seemed upset when he was telling me some of the details and said "It sounded like a scam". Now I see what he was trying to tell me!

I own a 360 and a PS3, but one of these companies better wow me with their next consoles. I'm sick of paying for xbox live gold and the incessant advertisements on the site. If it were free, advertise away. But Microsoft is looting gamers and advertisers and getting away with it. Not so next gen, unless the product they offer is head and shoulders above what Sony comes up with. It's just not worth it anymore.
