The Console and PC Become One

Leviathyn.com | Microsoft has finally jumped on board and is bring a web browser to the Xbox 360. Internet Explorer will soon be ported to the console. Is it going to work very well, surfing the internet on the TV with a controller? I’m skeptical. It doesn’t matter if it works well or not though, this news acts as another great example of how console and PC gaming are becoming one.

Next gen consoles will be closer to becoming "one" with PC.

consoles are never near pc gaming, they simply play catch up and are always a full generation behind, when next gen consoles launch, 1080p will be the norm with perhaps 4x aa and 30 frames per second in most games

on pc, 1200p, 1440p, 1600p, 4k with insane aa like 8x, 16x, 32x, txaa ect are becoming increasingly common

buying digital is the norm on pc, and has been for some time, dedicated servers with 32, 64, 128 players is common, mmo's , rts, free to play all have been the norm for a long time, consoles may see some of this next gen

community projecs, mods, clans, guilds, all the long standing tradition on pc, next gen, hopefully some of that filters over

The main difference is that PC is an open platform, Microsoft is trying to take that away though.

Also, is Mods word of the season or something? I swear, someone will mention something about PC that Consoles tend to lack and people repeat it like parrots for months. Anti aliasing squack, upgradability squack, 60fps squack, mods squack.

Well - aren't mods a legitimate reasoning for PC gaming (as well as your other points like upgradability)? Why are you calling it "squack" (I suppose that should be some kind of trash-talk, never heard of the word though)?

Mods have always been around, but 1 game makes a big point out of them and its the only thing people say about PC gaming. The repition gets annoying. "Squack" like a parrot who keeps repeating itself.
