OXCGN's Dishonored Review: Best New IP in Years

OXCGN

"Created by the masterminds at Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, Dishonored can only be accurately described as a beautiful, evocative masterpiece." (Dishonored, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 9.5/10

I'm so glad to see that this game is as good as it looked to be.

I can't wait to play it and I hope enough people buy it to show that new IPs that are quality and offer something interesting and fresh are supported!!!

Support new IP's everyone. These guys are taking a huge chance doing something so unique and out of the box, please reward them for it and get us out of this stalemate of FPS games!
Nimblest-Assassin  +   744d ago
Hopefully their metacritic is over 85, so the guys at arkane get a bonus.

Seriously, if you are going to put hours of your time into creating a new, unique game, you deserve more in your paycheck, regardless of what reviewers say

Well said, I'm with you... Support great fresh new IP's so were not playing blockbuster sequel after sequel every xmas season. High score and " Best new IP in years " wow! This game looked dope but I did not exspect this kinda of praise. It's getting 9's all kinds from all the big sites.

Glad to hear that there is a lengthy narrative after hearing reports of people completing it in 4 hours.

I have high hopes for this game. Can't wait to pick up my copy this week.

The best thing about it is that new IPs continue to shine through the sea of sequels.
BadCircuit  +   744d ago
Yes and EA said that it was silly to release a new IP this late into a console cycle.

Hopefully this proves them wrong!
Eske  +   744d ago
I had heard that the guy who beat it in 4 hours did so on easy mode, non-stealth, without doing side-quests.

So I wouldn't put too much stock into that.
gaminoz  +   744d ago
I think he just wanted to rush through it to say "I did it in...". Anyone who explores and takes the time to play it creatively will probably find lots to do.

Open games always can at least have the possibility of longer gameplay...not like the hand holder linear corridor shooters that are about the same as they are intended to be.
BadCircuit  +   744d ago
This game is said to have a lot of replay value, so I'm not worried about that report.
SAE  +   744d ago
if that's the case then 4 hours is great :)
Belgavion  +   744d ago
Everything I hoped and more
BadCircuit  +   744d ago
Yes oh yes. I can wait for Call of Duty. I can wait even for Halo 4.

This is something fresh and with so many ways to play it...I can't wait for it! I was so worried it wouldn't live up to expectation!

Fresh is what I want and fresh is what I'm getting finally. It was starting to look like the gaming industry was turning into Hollywood rehashing and remaking :D
gaminoz  +   744d ago
Yes exactly. I think that the current gen machines can still produce great games if devs tried to use them for some new stuff instead of just rehashes.

I hope risk is rewarded for Bethesda and Arkane here.
Burning_Finger  +   744d ago
meh.. looks like a cross game between bioshock and assassin creed. nothing new.
GrathiusXR  +   744d ago
Except you can play this game how you want unlike games such as AC3 or Bioshock which have no effect on the over all story etc...
BadCircuit  +   744d ago
And that's a bad thing?
urwifeminder  +   744d ago
Yeah i agree and will pass cant handle stealthy games.
Bathyj  +   744d ago
Any Aussies here check out the deal a JBhifi.
Trade 2 games and get this free.

I'm glad, cos the only fun I got from Ghost Recon was trading it in for Dishonoured.

Looks good!

I'm kinda a bit of a steampunk fan and hearing about this game made me kinda excited. Now that the reviews are out and with very high scores I don't see any reason why I shouldn't get this game. I also like stealth and I'm really tired of the old shoot em style of gameplay so this is really a breath of fresh air. I hope this new IP deserves all the support and success it can get. God knows we needed a new kind of game.
DeusExer  +   744d ago
Give me the ability to attack an objective in a multitude of ways and I'm a happy man.
dredgewalker  +   744d ago
lol, from someone named DeusExer I can't expect nothing less. I love having many types of kills.
Laxman  +   744d ago
Very keen for this! Im really loving the art, and general visual style of it too. The guys at Arkane seem to really know what they're doing.
Eske  +   743d ago
Agreed. I love the Timesplitters-ish look to the characters. They look like they were molded out of lumpy clay.
Nunchez  +   744d ago
Deserves all the scores its getting. Cant wait to play it!
TheSuperior  +   741d ago
So many people really were looking forward to this game. Im glad to see it didnt dissapoint. This is a rare circumstance to see so many people group together to love a game that they had no previous knowlege of it being good. If it sucked so many people would have been let down.
