Wii U survey in Japan reveals excitement, with a little trepidation

The message brought home by Famitsu magzine's recent survey of over 1000 gamers: People are excited about the Wii U, but they also hope Nintendo won't make the same mistakes they committed with previous launches.

The survey, conducted in late September on Famitsu's website, showed a general sense of excitement about Nintendo's latest system, due out December 8 in Japan. Forty-five percent of responders said they plan to purchase a Wii U system on launch day, with another 37 percent claiming they'll buy it at some later date. The main impetus for these gamers: the launch lineup, which includes titles like New Super Mario Bros. U and the HD version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. (Nintendo, Wii U)

it was gamers being surveyed.. so 45% will get it at launch, the rest will wait until its worth getting or not get it at all.. Give this survey to casuals & see what they say

I don't think magazines have a "casual" and a "core" surveys...

They did a survey and got the result.

The fact is that when they did this survey nearly a year ago, about 5% said that they were going to get a Wii U at launch, and now that number jumped up significantly. Bottom line is that the Wii U has a huge buzz all around the world without Nintendo really advertising it yet. Once the Wii U has stationary units and commercials out, the casual market will be all over it. More importantly is the fact that the core audience is giving Nintendo a chance despite all the negative publicity it receives from every angle. The Wii U will be huge in Japan for quite some time, the question is will the Wii U be huge in the rest of the world. I guess we'll see when it launches in 42 days...

we will see the results soon enough.. i spoke too soon.. I no doubt believe it will sell well for a while.. I want to see how long & if new 3rd party IPs get pushed.. If so, im in.. I just dont trust em cuz its mostly the 1st party games that end up being the ones worth buying.. w sprinkles of good 3rd.. Maybe that will change since its equipped for em, for now.. No telling w the gaming market these days.. flooded with casual & shooters cuz thats what brings in the cash.. i love nintendo too but the same old song n dance is getting old
