Five Things I Want In A Resident Evil 2 Remake

Game Informer - Capcom recently teased that it would consider remaking Resident Evil 2 if fan demand is high enough. The Resident Evil remake on GameCube is regarded by fans as possibly the best example of the series’ classic survival horror formula. I know I speak for many fans with this list of things we’d like to see in a potential remake of Leon and Claire’s dire escape from Raccoon City. (PS2, Resident Evil 2)

I don't want them to, they'll only end up making it like RE6... All action, no scares, no survival, etc.

You obviously haven't played RE6. All of the campaigns in the game had scary and intense moments.

Second, RE has always been an action game with horror elements. The RE games might start off scary but that would quickly change towards the middle and ending of the games.

If you want true survival horror games. Look at haunting ground, fatal frame and Silent hill. Resident evil wasn't anything like those games.

Nah, I've seen enough of it to clearly tell it's not scary. Resident Evil was the epitome of survival horror back on the PS1. You had to manage all of your ammo and equipment and conserve the hell out of it. Silent Hill was essentially just like RE back on PS1, I don't know why you're saying it wasn't anything like Silent Hill.

It was because of Resident Evil the term 'survival horror' was coined. Don't try and justify 6 by saying all the other games were action pact. It was a horror with action in there. You never took on waves after waves of enemies. A room with two or three zombies posed a problem. So no, Resident Evil was never just an 'action game with horror elements'.

If they ever made a RE2 remake, just do it like you did with RE on the GC. That was fantastic.

you couldn't be more wrong
the main difference with old and new re games is the suspense
in re5 every encounter with enemies would either be pointed out or the objects in the room would be obvious cover so you could guess anyway.
i can barely play old re games because i'm in constant fear of a zombie or something else popping out and would move through hallways as slow as the game would allow, but then re5 and 6 came along and i can play at midnight with lights off and just run through the game with no fear whatsoever.

i actually bought RE6, and it has NO scary moments at all. stop spreading false information

capcom wants more lazers, guns, helicopters, tentacles, QTE, love triangles, cursing, more bromances going on with alot of explosions, bullets everywhere, karate fights, and huge boobs.

haha below, thats funny because the voice acting in the old ones was horrible, but its good to know that capcom is continuing to keep the voice acting bad, at least they kept something besides character names from the old games.

I don't know...they did a pretty good job of the RE1 remake. And I'd even go as far to say the light-gun remakes were pretty decent. A RE2 remake might be an even bigger improvement on the RE1 remake...if Capcom do it right.

As long as they don't mess with the original then I'm fine with it

Although I would like Leons and Ada voice actors back...Paul Mercier and Sally Cahill they were replaced in RE6 and I have no idea why...must be Capcom being cheap.
-Mika-  +   684d ago
Why do you care so much about the old Voice actors. If you played RE6 which you haven't. You would notice that they sound exactly the same as the previous games. So what is the problem?
Carl_Shocker  +   684d ago
Whats your problem Mika, your so obsessed of defending the game to kingdom come if you have to, trying to convince people it's great and old school when it clearly isn't. You keep poitning out that people havent played RE6 but playing the demos count as playing it, it's enough to actualy judge the game.

I like those voice actors by the way, I think they had more chemistry with each other then the new ones.

Lets look at your comment above for example

"You obviously haven't played RE6. All of the campaigns in the game had scary and intense moments."

How do you know he hasn't played it, I could easily say you havent played the old games if you actualy think RE always used to be an action franchise.

"Second, RE has always been an action game with horror elements. The RE games might start off scary but that would quickly change towards the middle and ending of the games."

They never were, don't BS, they were always known as survival horror games, it was there selling point at the time and what they've always been remembered as.

You never once saw Chris ride a motor cycle leaping from roof to roof as he tried to escape a helicopter which later would magicaly end up getting Jill trapped onto the bottom of it as he had to save her...never mind a bloody tank chasing them down in the mansion ¬¬

"If you want true survival horror games. Look at haunting ground, fatal frame and Silent hill. Resident evil wasn't anything like those games."

Why should we have to look at other games, we shouldn't be pushed out for a new audience, me and many others are the reason why RE is so successful today, walking away would seem like I'm letting Capcom screw me over.

If your the type to get off over action games then don't be selfish and want it from RE as it destroys the franchise for real survival horror fans, go and seek out a new IP with those over the top action sequences you want from a game.

Honestly...I mean your the person who wants co-op in RE2, that says something about you as a so called RE fan dosent it.

Continuity. Voice actors dont rly have any need to be swapped out. Ever. Period. Carl is a bit of a purist and wants the old voice actors back, which in all honesty, should happen. This is a remake, not a reboot or re7.

Actually Carl , your the one who obsessed in trash talking the game in every RE6 Articles
yes we get it the game is shit and you don't like it .. just vote with your wallet and move on already.

they can change some of it but keep ammo the same and zombies but change it so it controls better like 3rd person and thats be it
kyon147  +   684d ago
Resident Evil 6 is far from a survival horror now which is a shame, it could be such a great game.
yesmynameissumo  +   684d ago
One thing I want is for Capcom NOT to make it.
CalvinKlein  +   684d ago
yeah, ninja theory should make it and make leon a Jamaican or GASPPP a ginger. AHHHHHHHHHHH

asuming they can make a good improvement like what they did with the first one (best remake ever) then they could do it and actually make it better, as long as they leave the controls, camera, lighting and music the same it should be fine.
and no co-op

Call in Manny Horovitz from Boardwalk Empire to do what he does best... only with this game!

If they are to remake this game I would like the old style controlls back, were pressing 'square' makes you run while pressing 'X' as the action button like picking up stuff, shooting stuff and opening doors. I would also like to see Paul Mercier voice Leon and Sally Cahill voice Ada, to me they sound much better then the two who voiced Leon and Ada in re6 even though they sorta sound similar they just don't cut if for me. Fixed camera are a must and has to include the 4th survivor and tofu one too.
