GamesBeat: Sonic Adventure 2 HD runs back to the beginning of the franchise’s fall (review)

Sonic Adventure 2 was originally released in 2001, only a few months before Sega officially stepped out of the hardware market. That makes it the last Sonic game to appear on one of Sega’s platforms, so it does carry some relative historical importance.

Now, following in the footsteps of other Dreamcast hits like Jet Grind Radio and the original Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 has come to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Does it take us back to the days when this series was still good, or was it already bad back then, and we just hadn’t realized it yet? (PS3, Sonic Adventure 2, Xbox 360) 60/100

anyway try the game cause this review and media are just so hateful toward sonic
it seems like a modern trend to hate him these days

Maybe if your games were better, people wouldn't hate you so much.

I love Sonic Adventure 2 for having a nice story and Tails, Knukles, and Shadow playable. Sure Tails and Knuckles gameplay styles were underdeveloped, but now that they have made Sonic play well in Sonic Generations they should work on Tails and Knuckles, as well as bringing Shadow back as playable but with Sonic's gameplay

It was good for its time, because it was Sonic...in 3D.

But when you look at it now, it does seem pretty mediocre. I love Sonic, but I don't let fanboy-ism and nostalgia blind me.

The Sonic games for Sega Genesis? ALWAYS good and I always come back to play them.

Why can sega make another pure 2D Sonic game?
I think sonic needs a 'hit' of retro to bring him back to form.
Generations was ok, but that 2D.5, polygons over pixels.
Were Casle Crashers or Blaze Blue 3D bassed games?
I guess all boils down to art style. For what whats it's worth I think a pixel bassed 2D Sonic would be a great idea.
