Kojima Productions' L.A. Studio Working On New MGO Project

"Speaking on the opening day of last weekend’s Eurogamer Expo, at Earl’s Court, London, Hideo Kojima confirmed that his newly-formed L.A. studio is currently working on development of a new Metal Gear Online franchise." (Hideo Kojima, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

A MGO ran by an American team? lol, no thanks.

Sounds like they're killing the fun Japanese gametypes and will make it a bunch of generic deathmatches with other boring mechanics so it can appeal to people in the West that play nothing but CoD all day.

RIP MGO

You heard it here guys everything Japan does > anything America does!

On a serious note, just because its made by a western dev does not mean it will copy the Call of Duty formula also its not like MGO2 (MGS4 MGO) was really that grounded in Japanese gameplay mechanics (If thats even a thing?), it was a tactical, stealth based TPS and it was also very popular in both East and West so there is no reason to throw that formula away.

I totally agree. Western developers are trying so hard to make shooting games so damn serious it just becomes laughable. Japanese on the other hand, how shall I explain it. They use superflatness. Combination of blood and cute stuff, tough military heroes and strong sexual themes and so on. Of course the games/media is more fun to watch/play with more themes to it as long as it works.

RIP MGO? What? lol

If anything it will be just like every other MGO.Tons of fun and quirky in it's own way. They have all the past games to follow as guidelines and things to improve upon.

If anything it will be better then ever if the team does standard online servers instead of that Konami bullshit (which i have no doubt they will)

A new MGO? I like the sound of that. If they keep the gameplay like MGS4 and make it better I'll be sure to play it.

Can't wait for another rendition. Hopefully this means that there won't be anymore of that ridiculous Konami ID system.

I am a little shaky of this. I am happy to see a new MGO but I really hope that they don't disconnect as early as they did before. Cardboard boxes needs to be toned down as well and don't let me get started with the lag......

No Konami ID, New team & Made in the USA? YES PLEASE!!! Here's why... With a new team I think the new MGO will be getting MGS:GZ player movements/mechanics shipped right from Kojima due to it being still a MGS game, especially if it will be released with MGS:GZ. I think straying from those mechanics will be a recipe for disaster & I think that's obvious even for a new western team. MGS mechanics/movement is what made MGO stand out from all other online MP shooters. I think the western influence will bring (fingers & toes crossed!) a bit more balance & smoothness to the MP game modes/types. More of what ppl want/expect in an online MP shooter. Here's hoping they bring back all the different skills but get rid of the crappy "only 4" skill slots. I shouldn't have to be weak at another skill just because I'm a CQC master. I'm hoping the western team can convince Kojima that we DON'T like being handicapped in all other skills just to be good at 1 skill.

Can't wait to CQC/stun ppl online, take their weapons, victory dance ;D, wake em up then kill em! Oh yea bring back the scan plug, I felt like a vampire when I got ppl with that! MGO LIVES!!!

Guys let's just wait and see . Kojima outsourcing to a western company isnt the same as Capcom giving up on a franchise and dumping it on a crappy western studios hoping for the best , like they did with DmC , Lost Planet , Raccoon city etc .

For starters it's a legit Kojima branded studio , so it will be under scrutiny . And at last the last time Kojima supervised a project from a western dev , we were left with the excellent Castlevania Lord of Shadows

Interesting. I wonder how this really will go. It sounds like it'll be a game more catered to Western gamers, don't really like the sound of that. But at the same time MGO2 had a lot of not-so-good things about it and Japan was the only region that received any real support (I do not expect this to change, however. This is Konami we are talking about, they're not going to change overnight). We'll see how it goes. If they can make a good mix of what MGO has done right in its previous 2 instalments (or arguably 3 if you count MPO perhaps) and some of the more positive things from Western multiplayer games then maybe it'll be good. As long as it isn't a case of headshot mania once again and a game that focuses so much on ranking and skill points and whatnot then it will probably be a step in the right direction. But again this is Konami, I won't hold my breath.
