Dust: An Elysian Tail Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: I can’t express enough reverence for Dodrill’s prestigious Dust: An Elysian Tail. The game is a testament of what a single person can accomplish with enough passion and determination. The end result is a beautifully orchestrated synthesis of skillful programming and exquisite craftsmanship. The game is visually stunning, fun to play, and a joy to explore. It’s an XBLA title that deserves a special place in your collection. (Dust: An Elysian Tail, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Xbox 360) 9.0/10

I think you've over rated the game a little. Good review nonetheless.

You have to keep one thing in mind: The game was made by ONE person. A single individual was responsible for all the programming, the art, the level design, and the narrative. Despite some help on the voice acting and soundtrack, this is an accomplishment that's truly praiseworthy and needs to be taken into account when reviewing the game.

Obviously that's praise worthy. But that's now how we review games, do we? You can praise that One person's capabilities as much as you can in the review or in a supporting article, but the game needs to be judged by its core qualities.

Play the game and then come back and say its overrated.

But that's my point. The developer was able to achieve a level of quality that rivals most AAA titles, hence the praise. This is an excellent game, even if it was developed by an entire team of people instead of just one guy. :)

Great achievement for one guy definitely but ultimately a dull experience for me as all these metroid structured games are becoming after there being so many

I loved the game. The visuals and art direction are fantastic and the music is charming! I played through it twice to get the full 400 gs.

The 360 needs more games like this!
