MyAchievements “birthday gift” is literally 25 cents

Warp Zoned writes:

"When Microsoft revealed the MyAchievements program for Xbox Live Rewards members, they also revealed that members would receive a “birthday gift” worth 25 cents. Many assumed it would be an Avatar accessory like a party hat or something. Not quite. Since my birthday is next week, Microsoft has given me my gift and it’s… drum roll please… 25 cents!"

OH BOY 25 CENTS CAN BUY YOU A VIRTUAL GUMBALL FOR YOUR AVATAR.*warning can only be used once*

RickHiggity4214d ago

seems a bit cheap for an avatar item

FarCryLover1824215d ago

25 cents I didn't have before haha.

Hufandpuf4214d ago

I remember when 25 cents could buy you a bag of chips. now it's 35 cents. DAMN YOU ECONOMY!

FarCryLover1824214d ago

Little bags like those are around $1.45 or so.

Blankman854214d ago

0.25 X 40 million xbox live users = $10 million every year to gamers.
25c is peanuts to the individual gamer, but $10 million is alot of money to give away every year.

dazzrazz4214d ago

Actually you are kinda wrong sir ! You have to enroll into rewards program first, you dont get signed up automatically and I'm pretty sure you dont get shit if u silver either

moparful994214d ago

Oh you mean compared to the $60 per year they rape from its users? I'm sorry but they can EASILY afford more then 25 cents per user..

dark-hollow4214d ago (Edited 4214d ago )

They are not entitled to give you money just like how you aren't entitled to buy an XBL subscription.

Zichu4214d ago

If people are still paying $60 for LIVE, then it's their fault for overpaying. You can easily find it way cheaper on Amazon or Ebay...

Anyway, 20 MSP definitely isn't a lot. Pretty sure it takes a couple of seconds to add MSP to someones account and probably doesn't cost them a penny. A lot of the games are overpriced on there marketplace, so they aren't technically losing anything doing this, they are most likely still making a profit.

It's better than getting nothing at all, but they could of done better... Oh well, guess I will have to keep getting 20 for each month, an extra 20 for my birthday and whatever MSP I get back for buying a game, along with any of there reward programs they plan to do.

Entitlement is a funny thing!

We are entitled to health care, wellfare, unemployment benefits and so on... and now, we are entitled to get a portion of our service fee back!

Nobody has to buy Xbox Live, and MS doesn't have to give you a dime for being a member, but when the offer good will I tend to accept it rather than b*tch and moan like a spoiled immature child!

Also, if you really want some points MS offers Xbox Live Rewards and you can take a survey for a free 20 points every month in addition to whatever promotion they hold. You can also get free points by using Bing Search engine.

moparful994213d ago

It has nothing to do with "feeling entitled" It has everything to do with the fact that a measley 25 cents is good for absolutely NOTHING.. Considering the amount of money their users drop on their products and services giving a quarter back to them is like a slap in the face... Its belies the greed that is rampant in microsoft and one of many reasons they don't get my money..

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

darthv72149d ago

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

isarai149d ago

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ149d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil149d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces

I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.

Orchard519d ago

Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.

Crows90519d ago

Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.

Profchaos519d ago

I had a PS2 and it's online experience was fine but it didn't have the same level of polish voice chat never worked for me but I was trying to play from Australia where not many people played PS2 online to the point where many devs simply dropped the online mode from the pal version.
That's not all PS2 games mind you there were plenty that worked perfectly but it was more on the dev and not the platform

During that era I also played a fairly large amount on online PC games and they were undoubtedly better than both systems. PS2 from functionality and Xbox because it was free

Playing my friends original Xbox it was a really polished experience it felt robust yet simple things just worked there was zero config.

Crows90519d ago (Edited 519d ago )

Yeah but the time ps3 came the experience was the same on both based on what I played...not too much online though to be honest. But I do think that the xbox did help bring online into the console space a lot. As well as PC games to consoles.

Profchaos519d ago (Edited 519d ago )

Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
