MyAchievements “birthday gift” is literally 25 cents

Warp Zoned writes:

"When Microsoft revealed the MyAchievements program for Xbox Live Rewards members, they also revealed that members would receive a “birthday gift” worth 25 cents. Many assumed it would be an Avatar accessory like a party hat or something. Not quite. Since my birthday is next week, Microsoft has given me my gift and it’s… drum roll please… 25 cents!" (Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE)

FarCryLover182  +   657d ago

Little bags like those are around $1.45 or so.

0.25 X 40 million xbox live users = $10 million every year to gamers.
25c is peanuts to the individual gamer, but $10 million is alot of money to give away every year.
dazzrazz  +   657d ago
Actually you are kinda wrong sir ! You have to enroll into rewards program first, you dont get signed up automatically and I'm pretty sure you dont get shit if u silver either
moparful99  +   657d ago
Oh you mean compared to the $60 per year they rape from its users? I'm sorry but they can EASILY afford more then 25 cents per user..
dark-hollow  +   657d ago
They are not entitled to give you money just like how you aren't entitled to buy an XBL subscription.

If people are still paying $60 for LIVE, then it's their fault for overpaying. You can easily find it way cheaper on Amazon or Ebay...

Anyway, 20 MSP definitely isn't a lot. Pretty sure it takes a couple of seconds to add MSP to someones account and probably doesn't cost them a penny. A lot of the games are overpriced on there marketplace, so they aren't technically losing anything doing this, they are most likely still making a profit.

It's better than getting nothing at all, but they could of done better... Oh well, guess I will have to keep getting 20 for each month, an extra 20 for my birthday and whatever MSP I get back for buying a game, along with any of there reward programs they plan to do.

Entitlement is a funny thing!

We are entitled to health care, wellfare, unemployment benefits and so on... and now, we are entitled to get a portion of our service fee back!

Nobody has to buy Xbox Live, and MS doesn't have to give you a dime for being a member, but when the offer good will I tend to accept it rather than b*tch and moan like a spoiled immature child!

Also, if you really want some points MS offers Xbox Live Rewards and you can take a survey for a free 20 points every month in addition to whatever promotion they hold. You can also get free points by using Bing Search engine.

It has nothing to do with "feeling entitled" It has everything to do with the fact that a measley 25 cents is good for absolutely NOTHING.. Considering the amount of money their users drop on their products and services giving a quarter back to them is like a slap in the face... Its belies the greed that is rampant in microsoft and one of many reasons they don't get my money..
iNFAMOUZ1  +   657d ago
Ndivhu is right, it's actually alot
bubblebeam  +   657d ago
It still isn't "literally" 25 cents. It was 20 Microsoft points. http://theoatmeal.com/comic...

Hate it when people say literally without knowing what it means, it defeats the purpose of saying it in the first place. Jamie Oliver?

Either way, an avatar award, while not a gift you'd get excited about, is still much better than this. Sometimes I wonder if the people at Microsoft are Monkey-rats from the planet Zhar.
It's more than I get from SONY!
saoco  +   657d ago
i rather get full games than .25
MattyG  +   657d ago
Oh yeah, $20 back for every $100 you spend. Real cheapos.
DARK WITNESS  +   657d ago
or 0.25 back for every $40 you spend.
MattyG  +   656d ago
@DARK WITNESS this rewards program is more of a slap in the face than anything. 1-2%? Come on!

MS should not have even wasted their time with this, it's worthless and I think it's an insult to offer someone 25 cents for their birthday, homeless people would give you more than that!

Normally I wouldnt complain about getting something for free, but a useless denomination of MS points is worth nothing, so really i wouldnt complain about NOT getting my bday "gift" either.

I mean, after I bought some DLC a few months ago, i wound up with like 140 MS points leftover, and even that amount is pretty useless, unless of course you want a cool fedora for you avatar.. I dont. you cant even rent a standard-def movie off of Zune for 140 MS points..

So yeah, MS can keep thier 25 cents..thanks, but no thanks.
