At this time of year so close to the release of Black Ops 2, you can almost feel it in the air: millions of gamers practicing their quickscopes, eagerly anticipating the release of yet another Call of Duty, and the inevitable influx of curious “n00bs” that follows along in its wake. This year’s iteration, with the incredibly clever and original name of Black Ops 2, is dropping right on schedule in November. Are customers actually getting anything, well, new though? That’s a question that a lot of gamers have been asking themselves, as recent iterations of the series seem to be repeating the exact same formula (for the record, I own all of them except CoD 3 and of course, the spinoffs). Is Black Ops 2 just going to be more of the same? Let’s take a look.
