Something About This New Cross-Platform Game Doesn’t Sound New To Me…

Kotaku - Toukiden was one of the titles announced for both the PSP and PS Vita at last month's SCEJ (Sony Computer Entertainment Japan) Press Conference. A couple of the title's biggest selling points are that it is being developed as a collaborative project between SCEJ and Tecmo Koei, and that the game will have cross-platform capabilities between the PSP and the PS Vita. But just what is the game about?

The innovator of big Monsters in Video games? No ones ever heard of Final Fantasy. Selective memory?

1. It's Kotaku. They only get one or two decent articles out a month, IF that. It's WAY too early in October for that.

2. It's about Sony. Or rather, a game on a Sony console that's not gonna be elsewhere. Despite the foolishness spouted by some around here, it's painfully clear that any and all moves Sony makes will be scrutinized and criticized.

3. Sensationalism is always gonna grab more attention than the honest truth. No way they'd paint this in a more favorable light if doing so wouldn't garner them the attention they can get by twisting things around the way they have.

but it's not really about Kotaku really. I've seen other people say the same thing about other games with monsters. I chalked that up to lack of knowledge, but now when I see "proffessionals say it, it just seems shameful.

Toukiden 3, between the future plans of Omega Force

After the good feelings that came with the remarkable Toukiden 2, the Omega Force team in charge of this series has shown interest in working on a new chapter of the franchise, although they have recalled that at the moment they are developing a project that will be surprising, without offering more details.

After the release of MH World, Omega Force has a lot to catch up. Toukiden 2 is pretty good but I just can't help but find the game just more or less the same. The open world feature needs a few more kinks and additions instead of just "collecting items" and "killing enemies". The combat also needs to be improved upon because while it is indeed fast, it can get pretty repetitive. I also wish that the story and characters will be better, because I found the characters in TK2 to be a bit less varied compared to TK1, and even then a lot of the characters were basically stereotypes.

The monsters/enemies just need to be a bit more active, they seem a bit static a lot of the times. Not saying they should move between zones if they don't already, but at least a bit more mobile, from what I played anyways.
